Did you know:-
Breastmilk is a FREE superfood tailor-made for your baby that is already waiting and ready at 22 weeks pregnancy in the form of colostrum? Once your baby is born the colostrum slowly changes into mature breastmilk automatically by day 4. If you breastfeed your baby from birth removing the colostrum/breastmilk causes more to be made for the next feed until there is a full established milk supply. If it has been a bit tricky until now then things will soon get easier as you and your baby get the hang of breastfeeding. It is a wonderful thing to do and there are huge health benefits for both mother and baby - most of all its FREE and much less hassle than sterilising bottles. Give it go ! Be one of those families that can just grab a nappy and walk out the door for a lovely summer's day out and about relaxed in the knowledge that your baby has a handy supply milk ready-to-go!!!

Breastmilk has everything a growing baby needs in exactly the right amounts and is easy to digest. Research shows that a baby who is not breastfed is more likely to suffer from health problems, both as a child and throughout adulthood. Can anyone breastfeed? Breastfeeding is the normal, natural way....

In our Breastfeeding Matters membership magazine this month a mother states:- "But once my baby arrived everything changed. Something deeply instinctual and maternal kicked in, and I became so determined to breastfeed her that even when it felt impossible I could not give up." We think we have a choice and then we realise there is no choice if we feel as deeply as this. Its personal! La Leche League Leaders and mothers know this because they have all experienced the magic of the breastfeeding relationship. This is why we give up our free time so willingly to help new mothers overcome early difficulties they may have in establishing breastfeeding or in continuing to breastfeed for as long as they want. Better still is helping new mothers avoid difficulties by sharing their knowledge of how breastfeeding works. And there is no better way to do this than an antenatal class where you can catch up on all the information you need and our education system forgot to teach you.

Welcome to LLL Plymouth

Welcome to the La Leche League (LLL) Plymouth page. LLL Plymouth is led by accredited LLL Leaders Steph Hudson Leith Kassier.

LLL help mothers worldwide to breastfeed through mother-to-mother support, encouragement, information and education. Our mission is to promote a better understanding of breastfeeding as an important element in the healthy development of the baby and mother.

LLL believes that mothers know their baby best; you are the expert. We offer suggestions that many other mothers have found helpful, and encourage you to take what fits and leave the rest. Only you can decide what will work for you and your family.

We currently run a breastfeeding café in Plymouth on the second Friday of each month at Emmanuel Church Hall, Mannamead. Details of our upcoming meetings will be available over in our Facebook Group, where you can also find lots of support. www.facebook.com/groups/lllgbplymouth
