We are very proud at SWAN to be an accredited Disability Friendly organisation with I Am Me Scotland. We are committed to standing up against discrimination and hate crime, and to helping all staff and volunteers at SWAN learn how to support everyone who comes to SWAN with their unique stories, broad range of disabilities and health conditions, and the barriers they may face.

The aim of the initiative is to create a network of places throughout
Scotland where disabled and vulnerable people feel included and valued within their communities.

🌟 Exciting news! 🌟

We are absolutely delighted to share that Disability Friendly has been shortlisted for a Scottish Public Service Award 2026!

Developed with support from the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, Disability Friendly helps organisations become more accessible and inclusive for disabled people through training, resources and practical action.

To see this work recognised on a national stage is a tremendous honour and a reflection of the commitment shown by the businesses, organisations, volunteers and individuals who have embraced the initiative across Scotland.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Disability Friendly and helped champion inclusion in communities and workplaces. We are incredibly proud of how far the programme has come and look forward to celebrating alongside the other awesome finalists in December. 🎉💙

Anti-Bullying week is fast approaching! At I Am Me Scotland, we believe everyone has the right to feel safe, respected and included. Mhairi and Carol were working with Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service today for some Disability Friendly training. This wee guy hitched a lift on the way to the venue. 🐝 - some sugary water and a wee flower later, hopefully he managed to muster up the strength to be on his way.

A busy wee day for the team and volunteers yesterday.

Carol & Mhairi were at the Procurex conference during the day, meeting lots of fabulous stakeholders and cheekily seeking sponsors/partners for the charity 🤞

Aimee was with our amazing volunteers Sarah and Steven, along with John Trainer from Renfrewshire Council for the evening event.

We didn’t win any awards on this occasion, but we all got to have a fabulous time meeting new people and spreading the word about the work that we do. 💙
