We are absolutely delighted to recognise the incredible generosity of the brilliant team at Pro-Life Fitness Centre in Paisley. Their amazing donation of £200 is a shining example of kindness and true community spirit. As a charity-run gym, their support helped us make a real difference to the 215 local families we supported on Christmas Eve with a free food parcels.

Lots of updates and thank you messages are coming soon for what was undoubtedly the most successful Renfrewshire Food Giveaway yet. But our work continues—Renfrewshire Food Giveaway isn’t just for Christmas. We’ve been out this week, and our support goes on throughout the year. If you’re interested in helping regularly, here’s what our wonderful charity does.

StreetCare Volunteers (reg SC052348) is a registered charity dedicated to supporting homeless individuals, rough sleepers, and hostel residents across Glasgow and surrounding areas. Every week, our volunteers reach around 50 people facing homelessness on the streets of Glasgow.

We operate in two main ways:

1. The T-Walk

Once a week, all year round, a small team of volunteers walks a set route through the city centre, seeking out those in need. Drawing on years of experience, we know where to go and what’s needed. We distribute hot and cold drinks, soup, sandwiches, “goodie bags,” clothing, and essential toiletries. We also offer information about other services and, just as importantly, a non-judgemental listening ear for anyone who wants to talk. Each week, about 50 people benefit from this outreach. Our mission is simple: to make a positive difference, one person at a time.

2. The T-Drop

Throughout the week, volunteers collect surplus food from stores such as Prêt, M\&S, Lidl, and Greggs—food that would otherwise go to waste. Volunteers (who need their own car) deliver these donations to hostels and shelters throughout the city and beyond. Currently, 16 hostels, accommodating around 520 residents, benefit from these deliveries. The impact is substantial: each year, StreetCare Volunteers distribute over £500,000 worth of food.

We have no paid staff, and volunteering is flexible—volunteers simply let coordinators know their availability for the coming month. There’s no obligation to commit to a set number of dates, and a friendly WhatsApp group keeps everyone informed and connected.

What a magical way to wrap up another year! Now it’s time to enjoy this special day with loved ones. We want to send a huge thank you to everyone who made this year’s Renfrewshire Food Giveaway our most joyful and successful yet. There are far too many wonderful people to name in one message, but the outpouring of kindness from volunteers, schools, shops, businesses, and local groups was truly heartwarming—and we are endlessly grateful.

This year, together, we raised an incredible amount of funds, gathered more food than ever, and saw a fantastic turnout on Christmas Eve. Thanks to your generosity and festive spirit, we sorted, bagged, and delivered around 215 generous food parcels—each one packed with enough treats to help families relax and truly enjoy the Christmas season. So much of this food was rescued from becoming waste and instead became a source of joy for appreciative families.
The energy and dedication from everyone (except me before anyone says it) who gave up their Christmas Eve was nothing short of inspiring. You rolled up your sleeves, worked with smiles, and made sure everything ran smoother than Santa’s sleigh. Deliveries were so efficient that nearly everyone was home by 9pm—except for Claire and Bradley, who kept the RFG sleigh on the road until 11pm, making sure every parcel arrived in time for a festive feast.

I hope we brought a little extra cheer to those facing a tough Christmas. The difference we made was only possible because of your generosity and holiday spirit ❤

There are so many more thank-yous to come, but for now, let’s indulge in chocolate for breakfast and enjoy this special day.

It was, once again, a truly humbling and uplifting evening. I hope you all felt the magic, and I can’t wait to see you again next year.

We are sincerely grateful to Houlihan Pharmacy for organising a fantastic food collection at each of their 10 branches in the run-up to today’s food parcel deliveries. An extra special thank you to the amazing team at the Love Street, Paisley branch for also kindly donating £50 for us to purchase groceries. This incredible generosity will make a huge difference for the struggling families we’ll be delivering to this Christmas Eve.
