It's a-coming

OK so things may have gotten out of hand. (also no this is not an ad for duo, he's one angry wee owl sometimes) 🦉

Since upgrading to paid for Duolingo.. I'm now learning the following :

✅ Italian - furthest along and love it!! 🇮🇹 🇮🇹

✅ Spanish - new to it but v similar to Italian - same background... 🇪🇸

✅ Chinese - loving learning what the letters mean - for example shocking the amount of tattoos people have with Tang on them and it means Soup! 😂😂🇨🇳 Also seems like the letters mean things so for example water is three wee lines and so any symbol that has those in it is something to do with water, like river, stream etc... How flipping cool!!

✅ Japanese - hardest for sure cos the mouth shape is totally different and I feel like I'm being a bit insulting when I try to make the right vocalisation - maybe some expose to the language in real life would help! 🇯🇵

✅ Greek - yarp wayyyy harder... The letters make no sense to my wee brain! 🇬🇷

And I am doing these when I can, so instead of endlessly doom scrolling.. I'm learning... And yeah some of it is really hard but it's so much nicer than the scrolling!

Pretty much my whole life I said I could never learn languages and now... Yes it's entry level stuff but I'm trying!!

✨ Unapologetically me.

Life has thrown some pretty spectacular curveballs my way. Some have knocked me sideways, some have nearly broken me, and others have taught me more about myself than I ever wanted to know.

But here's what I've learned...

I can be kind without being a pushover.
I can forgive without forgetting.
I can understand someone's behaviour without accepting it.
I can set boundaries without feeling guilty.
And I can be strong while still having days when I feel anything but.

I refuse to let the things I've experienced turn me into someone bitter or unkind.

I'll still stand up for what's right, fight for those who need a voice, laugh far too loudly, dance whenever the mood takes me, and find happiness in the smallest things.

I'm still a work in progress. Aren't we all?

And at 50, I'm finally learning that I don't need to make myself smaller, quieter or more acceptable to anyone.

My life. My choices. My peace.

And I'm going to keep living it with compassion, curiosity, a healthy dose of stubbornness and absolutely no apologies for being myself. ❤️
