Volunteer Spotlight 💙

Every year during Volunteers’ Week, we like to shine a spotlight on one of our incredible volunteers. It’s never an easy task because honestly, we’d love to celebrate every single one of our amazing volunteers! 💪🏻🥰

This year however, we’re shining the spotlight on the wonderful Carol.

Carol volunteers at our Erskine club and every week she walks through the door with the biggest smile, endless enthusiasm and a warm hug for anyone who needs one. She has a way of making everyone feel special, valued and included.

🪩 She’s always the first one on the dancefloor, can teach anyone the Slosh and has even been known to arrive with a suitcase full of dressing up clothes to make sure everyone can join in the fun. 💃

She thoughtfully brings in magazines she knows our service users will enjoy, knows everyone by name (and usually what their favourite food is too!)and genuinely takes the time to get to know each person.

What makes Carol truly special is her kindness. If she can help, she will. As one of our Bank Volunteers, she regularly steps in to support other services whenever we’re short of volunteers, helping us keep those vital sessions running. She never asks for recognition and is always happy to lend a hand wherever she’s needed.

Carol brings so much joy, laughter and warmth to our organisation and the difference she makes to the lives of our service users, staff and fellow volunteers cannot be measured.

Carol, we honestly don't know what we'd do without you. Thank you for your time, your energy, your compassion and for being unapologetically you.
Happy Volunteers’ Week, Carol and thank you for everything you do. 💙

It's Volunteer Week! 🎉

We kicked things off yesterday by joining some of our amazing volunteers as they attended Engage Renfrewshire's Volunteer Dinner at the Glynhill Hotel. It was a fantastic evening celebrating the incredible contribution volunteers make across our communities. 💙

Throughout this week, we'll be shining a spotlight on our wonderful volunteers and sharing more about the vital roles they play within Roar Connections for Life.

Be sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok to meet some of our volunteers and hear their stories. 👏✨

As we mark Mental Health Awareness Week, let’s remember that mental wellbeing matters at every stage of life.

Older adults can face unique challenges including loneliness, bereavement, changing health, financial pressures and caring responsibilities. Many also grew up in generations where talking openly about mental health was not encouraged.

By listening, staying connected and creating supportive communities we can help ensure older people feel heard, valued and supported.

Every generation deserves good mental health. Every action counts.
