We're Hiring: SLATE Project Manager

Could you help young people build a brighter future?

We're looking for a SLATE Project Manager to lead and manage our Supported Living and Tenancy Engagement (SLATE) Project in Omagh, supporting care-experienced young people and those at risk of homelessness to access safe accommodation and the support they need to thrive.

📍 Location: 33–35 Castle Street, Omagh, BT78 1DD
💼 Contract: Permanent (subject to funding)
⏰ Hours: 35 hours per week
💰 Salary: NJC SO1 Scale 23–25 (£32,574 - £34,400, under review and depending on experience)

📅 Closing Date: 28 October 2026
📅 Interviews: 9 November 2026

A huge thank you to , for so generously supporting this year's Shelter NI Christmas Quiz Night.

Not only have they kindly opened their doors to host our event, but they've also provided £2.50 bar vouchers for the first 25 people who register, helping us make the night even more special.

Every pound raised on the night will help support our local , and Helping Hands projects, which make a real difference to people across the Co Derry/Londonderry and Co Tyrone.

For many older people and those living with disabilities, staying independent can become increasingly difficult. Through GABLE, we help people remain safe, connected and confident in their own homes and communities.

Our Helping Hands service provides practical support with small house adaptations, e.g. installing grabrails/ handrails, power washing, gutter cleaning - things that many of us take for granted- offering a helping hand when it's needed most.

Through SLATE, we offer an alternative to homelessness for young people aged 16-25 years who have support needs and are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

For many people, especially during the winter months, these services can make the difference between feeling alone and feeling connected to their community.

By supporting the quiz night, The Harp & Fiddle is helping us continue to provide practical support, companionship, and dignity to people across the community.

Making a house feel like home

We’re delighted to share some of the lovely items purchased by one of our service users through the Personalisation Fund.

The fund helps people we support personalise their flats and create a space that truly feels like their own. From home décor to those little personal touches, having the freedom to choose items that reflect individual tastes and personality can make such a meaningful difference.

We’re so pleased to see how these purchases have helped make this flat feel more comfortable, welcoming and home. 💙

We were delighted to attend the Church of Ireland Cappagh & Lislimnaghan Mothers’ Union recently to give a talk about the work SLATE does within our local community. 💙

It was a wonderful opportunity to share more about our project, the people we support, and the difference we aim to make in the community.

A big thank you to the Mothers’ Union for the warm welcome, their interest, and for giving us the opportunity to talk about the work we do. It was lovely to meet everyone and have such positive conversations about community support and inclusion.

The SLATE Gardens are taking shape!

We’re so excited to share a glimpse of our SLATE gardens currently under construction, made possible thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund – Awards for All.

It’s fantastic to see the plans becoming a reality, and we can’t wait to see the finished outcome!

Most importantly, we’re looking forward to sharing these wonderful new areas with our service users, creating spaces for everyone to enjoy, relax and connect with nature.

We also can’t wait for our followers to see the transformation and the difference these gardens will make!

To every young person experiencing homelessness: your current situation does not define your future. You may not know where you’re going yet. You may feel stuck, tired, or like life has taken you down a road you never expected.

But remember—you are still moving forward.

- Your journey is yours.
- There is always another road ahead.
- Your story is still being written.

You don’t have to have everything figured out today. Take the next step, however small it may be. Ask for help. Keep going. Believe that something different is possible.

Where you are today is not where you have to stay. The next road is always ahead.
