Support 2gether

Support 2gether Providing Education And Support For Families Living With Antenatal, Postnatal Depression & Anxiety.
- Tel: 02882622177 The most scary part is they feel ALONE!

As one sister suffered the other supported. 2gether they grew a Perinatal mental health charity. Support 2gether began as a support group and over the years it has evolved into a support organisation.

The charity was set up because Una lived with PND and had little knowledge of the illness that brought such darkness to her life.As Brenda looked to support her sister she realised that the support

and awareness in her community was very little and from the lack of services grew Support 2gether. The support for mothers and families is much needed in N.Ireland. There is such a taboo with Mental Health in our Society and women who experience a Perinatal mental illness such as Post-Natal Depression have a feeling of inadequacy, a feeling of 'being a bad mother'. They feel a failure towards their child, family, partner and most of all to themselves. If they knew that they were not ALONE, and that it can happen to ANYONE from any walk of life then maybe this will enable them to start believing in themselves and to start growing stronger. What we want to do is offer regular support/ education sessions in a safe environment where judgement is not welcomed, where the mother will be held and heard. Support 2gethers aim is to educate and normalise the illness which will empower parents. PND is a treatable illness but it needs treatment and due to the lack of awareness and the stigma surrounding the illness mothers do not know who to reach out for support. Support 2gether holds the mother whilst she holds her baby. Our team have lived experience of Antenatal/postnatal depression and anxiety and can support mothers/fathers through their journey of recovery to discovery

S2 is very proud to be an expert by experience.

2gether we can support and stand up to the bully that is PND (IT). U r not alone. x

🌻💗PERINATAL MENTAL HEALTH — YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO THIS ALONE💗🌻

Pregnancy and becoming a parent can bring so many emotions - joy, love and excitement, but also worry, overwhelm, fear and moments when things just don’t feel right.
Sometimes it can be difficult to know what is “normal” and what might be a sign that you need a little extra support. 💗

Our Perinatal Mental Health Symptom Checker highlights some of the things to look out for - from changes in your mood and difficulty sleeping, to feeling overwhelmed , struggling to bond with your baby and those frightening thoughts or feeling that you are not a good enough parent.

‼️Please don’t suffer in silence‼️If something doesn’t feel right, talk to your GP, midwife, health visitor or contact Support2gether. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness - it’s a strength.
🌻 We hear you.🌻 We see you. 🌻 You are not alone.

Please save this post, share it FAR & WIDE, share it with a new or expectant mum, and help us spread the message that perinatal mental health matters.

You are not alone.
Poor perinatal mental health, including postpartum depression, is very common. And hard to cope with.

In fact, 1 in 5 women experience a mental health condition during pregnancy or in the year after the birth.

Remember: prompt mental health support can make all the difference.

This summer we’ve hosted our Get 2gether drop-in at the S2 Hub. 💗🌻

Peer-to-peer support is such an important part of a mum’s recovery journey, and we feel so lucky to be able to facilitate this within our services.

This morning we had a very special little visitor this morning as we welcomed our newest member, **Master Conan**, who is just 11 days old! 🩵👶

There were, of course, lots of cuddles to be had!

We love seeing our community grow, one connection at a time. 💙💗🌻

Check out our very own Mrs O’ & Una Mary as they are guest speakers on One Day at a Time NICU & YOU Podcast.

Discussing what happens when the joy of becoming a parent is replaced by fear, anxiety, and silence? 💔

You sit in a hospital ward, surrounded by the constant beeping of machines. Other parents are holding their newborns, but your arms are empty. You’re told your baby has to go to the NICU.

For Ciara those first days felt "robbed." But the real battle began when she went home—living with constant what-ifs, crippling postnatal anxiety, and a terrifying fear: “If I admit I’m not coping, will they take my baby away?”

In this deeply moving episode of Nicu&You, host Belle Stevenson sits down with Ciara O’Goan and Una Leonard, founders of the award-winning charity Support 2gether.

Together, they break the silence on postnatal mental health and share a truth every struggling parent needs to hear:

"You are not a monster. You are human. Reaching out is a strength, not a weakness."

✨ In this episode, we explore:

Navigating the trauma of NICU separation and the physical impact of machine noise/triggers.

How one sister’s struggle and another sister’s support birthed a movement to save lives.

Why a supported parent is a protected child.

Overcoming the fear of judgment and understanding that this is not your forever—it's just your right now.

If you are struggling in silence or supporting someone through a tough journey, this episode is your reminder: you are not alone. 💛
