Trick or Treat..... 🕸️ 🕷️ 🙀

As I set to a much needed 'house chores' day, I am busy doing the washing, creating a homemade pumpkin & sweet potato soup and contemplating October 2026 for the rescue..and boy what a month it's been 🗓️

Totally in line with Halloween, I am horrified at how much we have spent this month on vet bills.... A whopping £5,616.34.

Never in my days would I have thought our little rescue would have got to that figure in just one month!

It's not a pity post though... We have always planned for the worst case scenario. You have to do this in rescue. We don't owe any vets, any money. Our heads are held above water and we ensure that the discounts our vets offer to us as a charity, are honoured by keeping on top of our bills with them. Our relationship with these heroes is great 💯

However whilst I may not be begging for money... (subtly maybe).... we do have a festive prize draw running and whilst we aren't destitute, the top prize has been kindly donated and I would love to ensure we can raise as much as possible, to honour Sally's generosity in allowing us to offer this great item as a prize.

🎄 TOP PRIZE: An incredible Tropic Advent Calendar packed with an amazing £668 worth of Tropic goodies — and the calendar itself retails at an incredible £299! 😱💚

There are many other prizes too. Let's make this a prize draw to remember! Draw date 27th November 2026.

🎟️ TICKETS JUST £2 EACH!

Please consider having a go. We have over 3300 followers. Just imagine if each of you had just ONE go.. that would be £6,600!!! Head spinning indeed.

Happy Halloween weekend everyone. Please keep your furbabies safe inside where possible, especially on the lead up to 5th November x

P.s. For anyone that made it this far..... I got pooped on by a bird this morning whilst having ventured out for a free Greggs Breakfast Roll.... Go on, you can laugh... 😭😭😭😭 Being OCD I surprisingly coped quite well and just figured maybe the universe is saying that all will be well. It's Lucky after allz so I'm seeing it as Treat..... 👍🏻

Miracle of Life 🧬🙏🏻✨

Star arrived earlier this month, heavily pregnant, looking for love and support at this late stage of her pregnancy ✅

She was vet checked on the 9th and we knew she was fit, healthy and over 2/3s of the way into her cycle 🥺

Fast forward 3 weeks and this morning, Star introduced us to her 5 new kits! She woke her fosterer Kelly, so she could be by her side, and appreciated her soft and calming nature whilst Pumpkin, Salom, Max, Binx & Billy safely arrived 💯

More kittens equals more costs so be sure to find out raffle post and have a few goes. Especially given the top prize is worth almost £700 ⭐

An odd post but please see the light..... Sorry it's not cat related...

At the start of September we went for blood tests for my husbands Cholesterol check. Me being me, I saw a poster for a medical study, whist walking down the corridor. £50 free voucher and a free meal. Sign me up! Lol. Owt for nowt.

The pre-trial changed our lives.we had to undergo a study to make sure we both had an appendix. That's where it all went wrong. Or right depending how you see it!

Dave has an appendix... Joy... but something didn't look right. The study day refused to probe further as there was a risk. An internal referral was made. It has been suggested he has Cancer of his appendix.. we stumbled on this early and are fortunate that it is being prioritised.

Life sends us down many dark roads. Next week, he is in for surgery. On the 12th November we were due to go away for the first time in 22 months. Medically we can't due to probable chemo needs.

I guess this post is an open forum. We can never usually predict the future. One thing as a charity I will Categorically predict is we are here for you. Advice, support, a shoulder cry on. I can't be with you every second ot every day. But I'm here. We are here. And please know, we can't always say Yes, but we are always here.

My hearts a little fragile right now but the strength it builds knowing I can make a difference is amazing. I, We & MAF are by your side ###x

On Wednesday we said goodnight one final time to one of our longest term residents, the 'Beautiful Bruce'. Rebecca and her family have been on his journey since day 1, and we can't thank them enough for all the love they have given him, each and every day. RIP Bruce, you'll be Furever in our hearts 🖤

Here is what Rebecca said:

Bruce came to us on the 8th March 2024, he had not long been rescued as a very ill stray and he was starting his road to recovery. He was a skinny boy (3.5kg) but still had his big tom cat cheeks, though the cause of that had been sorted!

He settled in very quickly, he never asked for anything, didn't meow to remind you it was dinner time or ask for pets but always accepted both happily.

For the first year or so, Bruce and I made many, many trips to the vets, the cat flu he'd come to us with left him susceptible to frequent flare ups and the walls and windows were forever being wiped down where he'd had a sneeze or 3...

Once that was a bit more under control and his diet sorted out to stop his tummy troubles he put on weight (5.2kg) and his coat became shiny and thick.

Bruce strolled through his days in a steady kind of way, occasionally had catnip induced zooming and through seeing other fosters come and go learnt to play with toys. He enjoyed a snooze on the beds, in a box and sometimes a knee.

In the mornings he'd sit on my make up table so that he could get his done as well (don't worry - he just liked being dabbed with brushes and told that he was handsome) and at my dinner time he'd ignore his own until he'd had a bite of mine, after that, it would be time for another snooze.

We always thought that because of his health issues he might not make old bones but together with MaF I'd say we did him proud and gave him the best nearly 3 years we could. There'll never be another Bruce and we're going to miss him so much.

Goodnight Brucey-Bruce, love you ❤️

Two Fabulous Events - One Amazing Village

This Sunday (25th October) there are two great reasons to visit Burton Joyce ✅ ✅

Firstly, our charity are hosting our now annual Market & Cafe Event - 'SpookCatUlar' at the Burton Joyce & Bulcote Village Hall, NG14 5EY - Open 10am until 2pm 🦇 🧹 🕸️

Our cafe will be serving Bacon Rolls, Veggie Sausage Rolls, Hot & Cold drinks as well as Mushy Peas. All money raised will support the rescue! 💰
In addition to the cafe, we have at least 23 stall holders joining us, with many superb items available 🎁 💝

Come rain or shine we will be open and offering a warm if not spooky welcome ☀️ 🌧️ 👐🏻

And whilst you meander around the village, don't forget to visit the Pop Up Food Fayre over at the Community Garden at the Old School Building!!

Breakfast at the hall followed by street food for your lunch later on in the community garden.

And if the rain gets too much, race back to the Village Hall for more bargains and a hot drink to warm you up 🏤

🎃👻 We’re dying to see you there for a frightfully fabulous time — it’s going to be SpookCatUlar 🕷️🦇

We are looking for an experienced Fosterer or confident person for an expectant momma cat.... She's due in approx 3bweeks time. We would like to get her settled somewhere so she can feel at home and have a calm and relaxed experience. It's not her fault this has happened but we certainly won't abort at this later stage. She needs our support and compassion.

You will get our full support 24/7 and join our foster family which means over 60 superheroes on stanndby to offer advice.

Star needs a calm, loving environment. Is this with you? ###xx
