💚🗣️ The Big Conversation on Care - have your say

The Big Conversation on Care is a nationwide public consultation, led by Baroness Casey, to help shape the future of adult social care in England.

It aims to hear from one million people across the country - including people who draw on care, carers, families, care workers and the wider public.

Last year, we carried out our own Big Conversation and the feedback from the listening events, surveys and conversations is helping us develop our local Adult Social Care Plan, setting out our priorities for the future.

This is your opportunity to share any thoughts or ideas with the Casey Commission and see and vote on ideas suggested by others.

Whether you're expecting a baby and exploring your feeding choices, or you have a newborn and are looking for advice and support with breastfeeding, we're here for you.

Join us for a friendly, informal evening where you can chat to our team, ask questions, meet other families and find out what support is available locally – no pressure, just support!

• Find out what the Family Hub has to offer

• Share your ideas for future sessions
• Enjoy refreshments and snacks

ℹ️ Need advice about adult social care and support?

Broxtowe residents can attend adult social care advice and information sessions to receive advice and early support from community care officers.

Whether you have questions about independence and wellbeing or need signposting to community and voluntary sectors, the team can provide free advice and help you to understand your options.

You can get support with:

✅ Understanding adult social care pathways and what they mean
✅ Next steps, referrals and community resources
✅ Direct Payments and community services
✅ Guidance on equipment, home adaptations and assistive technology
✅ Adult Social Care and Care Act
✅ Safeguarding and wellbeing concerns

No referral is needed and private rooms are available for confidential conversations.

Alternatively, Broxtowe Borough residents can drop in on Mondays between 2.15pm and 4.45pm to discuss adult social care needs.

🗨️ Have your say on mental health services

Healthwatch Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, in partnership with Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, has launched a survey on specialist mental health services.

Following feedback from people who used these services, they made recommendations to the Trust for improvements and now want to know if things have got better.

The survey is open to:
✅ people aged 18 or over who have used, or been waiting to access, specialist mental health services since January 2025
✅ carers, family members, or supporters of someone in this situation.

Specialist mental health services are adult mental health services provided by specialist teams such as community mental health teams, crisis services, and mental health inpatient wards.

The short survey closes on 31 July 2026 and all response are anonymous. Follow the link in the comments to take part ⤵️

We are excited to announce that our Deaf Connections Hubs at both NDS and Mansfield will now run for an extra hour! The new time is 10.30am to 1.30pm.

Our friends Consent In Notts have released the Safe Space Notts website, a new platform expanding the reach and impact of a nation wide commitment to tackling domestic violence, sexual harassment and promoting bystander intervention.

The new Safe Space Notts website offers:
- A searchable map of all the accredited Safe Space Notts venues in Nottingham
- Safe Space Pledge commitments
- Resources and guidance for staff and the public; animations, guide, training, media assets and specialist support
- Easy sign-up for organisations and venues
- Empowering news stories
