Care for the Family

Care for the Family Our aim as a charity is to promote strong family relationships and to help those who face family difficulties.

Care for the Family is a UK charity committed to strengthening family life. The impact when things go wrong can be devastating, but we believe every family should have somewhere to turn to in the tough times and put down strong roots in the good times to see through the storms when they come. We provide support, online and in person, for parents, couples and those who are bereaved, through events,

courses, podcasts, volunteer befrienders, books and other evidence-based, accessible resources. We also train those who work with families whether in a professional or informal capacity. Our work is motivated by Christian compassion, and our resources and support are available to everyone, of any faith or none.

So what’s this Family Media Agreement all about?!

Our gadgets can be pretty amazing, they can spark imagination and creativity… but sometimes, they can start hogging the spotlight and take us away from our real-world playtime together.

That’s where the Family Media Agreement comes in!

Think of it like a team code - helping you to talk things through with your family and to choose how you use your devices together. It’s not about laying down the law, it’s about deciding as a team what works best for everyone.

Grown-ups, kids, or tiny recruits, every voice matters. Everyone has a part to play in making this work.

So head over to Instagram and get the Family Media Agreement sent directly to your DMs for FREE!

Toy Story 5 has us feeling all nostalgic for the toys of days past! 🧸

We asked the team to send in their childhood pictures featuring the toys they loved, so join us for a trip down memory lane.

*The Communications team, otherwise known as the people making this post, were emotionally invested in making sure this went well and were therefore legally obliged to submit a photo!*

Toy Story 5 hits our screens soon and this time, the toys meet tech. A device, 'lily-pad', has arrived to take over!

The new film release has got everyone talking about how times have changed in the past 30 years (yes, it really has been that long 🤢)

Children today are figuring out a world that didn't exist when we were growing up alongside Andy.

With the help of Woody, Buzz and the gang, until release date we'll be sharing ways to help you keep connection, not to a device, but to each other. 🙌

Bereavement Care Awareness is an online course that aims to equip churches by giving them the tools they need to support bereaved people in their church or wider community.

You’ll come away with:

A better knowledge of how bereavement affects people in different ways.

An understanding of the grieving process.

Ideas for the practical and emotional support you can offer someone in the weeks and months after the funeral.

Practical skills to carry out supportive listening, a key tool in bereavement support.

We know that caring for a child, young person or adult with additional needs can be challenging as well as rewarding ❤️

Our online Just for You events are for any parents of children with additional needs to help you feel less isolated and more encouraged. There will be time to listen, to ask questions and to join a breakout room to reflect with others who ‘get it’.

The evening will include a special interview with Care for the Family’s own Di Parsons, hosted by Nicola Watson-Bird, our Additional Needs Support Coordinator - both sharing from their own lived experience of caring for people with additional needs🎙️

The event is hosted on Zoom, so you can connect with other parents and carers from the comfort of your own home.

So much of our work at Care for the Family is to come alongside those whose life has broken apart and say, ‘You’re not alone. Others have trodden this path. There is hope.’

We seek to create places where people can belong and we couldn’t do that without you.
Twice a year we contact our supporters to ask if they would be able to send us a gift so that we can continue supporting couples, parents and those who have been bereaved.

If you are able to do that at this time, as a thank you, we’d love to send you a copy of a beautiful signed hardback gift edition of A Knock at the Door, or the 15-year anniversary edition of Getting Your Kids Through Church Without Them Ending Up Hating God.
