Whilst our weather seems to be difficult to predict at the moment, one thing is for sure: the plants love it. So if you're a keen gardener or just want to grow some veg in your window box, swing by the Community Hub. We are selling a variety of flower and vegetable plants, and all you have to do is offer us a donation to help fund lifesaving prostate cancer testing.

With the summer holidays coming up, it's time we remind you that we have jigsaws and games available in our hub. All we ask is that you offer a small donation to help us fund things like our lifesaving prostate cancer sessions and support the local community. Never been to the Community Hub before? You can find it in the Bell Centre opposite Kick Up The Arts.

We're be in there on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Following on from last month's successful testing deal, we are delighted to announce that we will be doing another Prostate Cancer Screening session on Saturday, 10th of October at Gloucester House. The testing is free, but you must prebook your appointment.

On Saturday 30th May 2026 Melton Mowbray Lions arranged for PSA tests to be carried out at Gloucester House, Norman Way, Melton along with diabetes testing. Thanks to all our supporters who have made donations that has allowed us to provide these tests. 93 men registered for the PSA test with 89 being tested. Results indicate 71% of those tested were found to be within the normal range for their age. 13% were within the Amber range, just above the maximum Green limit and advised to contact their Doctor. However 16% were found to be outside of the guideline and within the red range and strongly advised to see doctors to be referred to a special urologist. Additionally 62 people undertook a diabetes test with no-one having to seek further advice. Once more, you our supporters have allowed Melton Mowbray Lions to make a difference where and when needed. Thank you all so much.

Our next PSA & diabetes tests are scheduled for Saturday 10th October 2026, registration is available now, just enter mypsatests.org.uk into your search bar, enter your post code and then you will find the registration section.
