A thought for anyone planning their next journey: The wrong flight can steal half your holiday.

A cheaper 6am flight may cost you sleep, airport food, an extra transfer and your first afternoon.

A city break should give you energy, not consume it. Smart flight times, the right neighbourhood and a realistic rhythm turn a few days away into a genuine reset.

Tell me the city and the number of nights; I will shape the rest.

Join us for a wonderful evening of music from the acclaimed duo Laura Jane Wilkie and Ian Carr. With local support from Peter Sloan and Sophie Lynch.

Hailing from the north east of Scotland, acclaimed fiddle player Laura Jane Wilkie has earned recognition for her recent solo album 'Vent', recorded with renowned guitarist Ian Carr. This work, released in Summer 2024, is a thoughtful and absorbing interpretation of ancient Highland and Island waulking songs, traditionally sung by women to accompany the hand production of local felts.

Laura is a highly-regarded musician, and was a founding member of the Kinnaris Quintet and Celtic jazz band Fat Suit. She has collaborated with esteemed artists including George Ezra, Katie Gregson-MacLeod and Rachel Sermanni, and has performed with icons such as Rod Stewart and Karine Polwart.

Proclaimed by Roots Magazine to be "the most innovative… and sympathetic guitarist that Britain has produced in years, in any genre…”, Ian Carr has earned reverence amongst guitarists for his ingenuity and musicality which combine on stage with an infectious wry humour. He has accompanied artists including Kathryn Tickell, Kate Rusby and Eddi Reader.

Laura and Ian will be supported by Peter Sloan (fiddle) and Sophie Lynch (guitar), two musicians from the North-East who will warm up the audience with a selection of local tunes.

Doors open at 18:15. Nibbles will be provided.

We have some night storage heaters we have removed from the hall. Good condition and only 4 years old if anyone knows anyone who can take them or can put them to use. They will need a van and 2 people to load them.

Ideally need them away tomorrow afternoon at the latest.

Storage Heaters Storage heaters draw electricity when it is supplied at a lower price (usually at night) and store this as heat energy for slow release over an extended period. Because of the charging algorithms in Creda storage heaters, they will always be cheaper to run over a 16-hour day than dir...
