We were honoured to attend this year’s Northern Housing Awards – and even more grateful to be chosen as the charity sponsor for the night. 💛

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our raffle and donated so generously. Together, you helped raise £4,400 on the evening to support vital research into childhood cancer.

A special moment of the night was hearing from Charlotte, one of our inspiring Patient Ambassadors, who was diagnosed with Leukaemia at just 11 years old. Today, she works as a paediatric nurse, using her experience to support other young people and families facing cancer. 💫

Your support helps make stories like Charlotte’s possible. Thank you for standing with us!

Every penny you donate to KidsCan makes a real and lasting difference in the fight against childhood cancer.

Right now in the UK, 1 in 5 children diagnosed with cancer will not survive because treatment options are still too limited. And of those who do survive, over 60% will live with lifelong disabilities caused by aggressive treatments designed for adults, not children.

Your support helps fund vital research into kinder, safer and more effective therapies — treatments that aim not only to save lives but to protect a child’s future.

By supporting KidsCan, you’re helping researchers develop treatments made for children, so they can thrive, not just survive.

At KidsCan, we understand that childhood cancer affects more than just the body.

Supporting a child through cancer can be overwhelming, and looking after your mental wellbeing is just as important as caring for physical health. Small daily habits can make a big difference, helping families, friends, and loved ones find moments of calm and strength when things feel difficult.

Here are three simple ways to care for your mind:
🌿 Move your body with a short walk or gentle stretch.
☀️ Get outdoors even just for a few minutes to lift your spirits.
📱 Take screen breaks to give your mind space to rest and recharge.

Mental health matters. You are not alone. 💜

What helps you take care of your mind when life feels heavy? Share your tips in the comments below.

💜 KidsCan was founded to bridge the critical gap in childhood cancer research and treatment.

Each year, over 1,600 children in the UK are diagnosed with cancer making it the leading cause of death in children.

Yet, only 3.5% of UK cancer research funding is dedicated to children’s cancers. This imbalance means that in the last four years, there have been just four new treatments for children, compared with 140 for adults.

Because of this, many children are still treated with harsh adult therapies, leading to a 20% mortality rate and leaving 60% of survivors with life-long disabilities caused by treatment side effects.

At KidsCan, we’re working to change that funding vital research into kinder, more effective treatments made specifically for children.

💜 Is your KidsCan collection tin feeling full?

Every single coin you’ve collected is helping to fund life-changing research into kinder, more effective treatments for children with cancer.

If your tin is getting heavy, we’d love to arrange a collection so we can process your donations and send out a fresh tin to keep the fundraising going.

✨ Every penny truly makes a difference. Together, we’re building a future where children living with cancer don’t just survive — they thrive.

Survival is only the first chapter of the story for many young cancer patients.

Chemotherapy, radiotherapy and invasive surgeries, though often necessary, can lead to devastating long-term side effects, including hearing loss, mobility issues, learning difficulties and even secondary cancers.

Over 60% of childhood cancer survivors will develop a chronic health condition or disability due to treatment. That's 3 in every 5 children whose future is forever shaped by treatments used to save their life.

At KidsCan, we believe children deserve more. They deserve to grow, thrive and live free from the burden of lifelong health complications.

Your support helps us invest in the science that could mean a future where beating cancer doesn't come at such a high cost

Help us give children not just a life after cancer, but a full life.

🎗️ Bowel Cancer Awareness Month

Bowel cancer is the second biggest cause of cancer deaths in the North West. Early detection can save lives. But screening uptake remains low, particularly in parts of Lancashire, where only 4 in 10 people complete their FIT test.

We’re proud to fund research at the University of Lancashire to strengthen the Call for a Kit (CFAK) programme, which has already increased screening participation by 15%. The project aims to improve how CFAK is delivered and boost screening by understanding barriers and tailoring support across the region.

The hope? Fairer screening, earlier diagnosis, and better outcomes for everyone.
