Paul has completed day three of his 5-day trek across the Picos de Europa with Much Better Adventures! 🙌⛰️

Sharing an update Paul said " I am feeling good but tired. It has been very challenging but I am really enjoying it."

Every step on Paul's journey is helping us to fund kinder, better treatments and provide connection for more families facing a cancer diagnosis 💛

Day One ✅

Paul has completed day 1 of his 5-day trek across the Picos De Europa with Much Better Adventures 🙌

The first day saw Paul hike 13km including a 1,000-metre incline, before reaching his first summit ⛰️

It was a challenge but Paul said he had a great day. Over the next four days, Paul will complete another 60km in aid of KidsCan, motivating him to keep going when it gets tough 💛

🥾Paul Moonan, Chair of KidsCan, has set off on his 5-day trek across the Picos De Europa today 🥾

Over the next five days, Paul will trek 70km across the Mountain Range⛰️ with Much Better Adventures, to raise vital funds that will help us fund research into kinder, better treatments and provide connection for families through their cancer journeys.

Paul has already raised over £2,200 through his incredible efforts. By reaching his fundraising target, Paul could help fund a one-year research project undertaken by a university student 💛

Much Better Adventures

Our Chair, Paul Moonan, will soon be heading off on an epic 5-day trek across the Picos De Europa⛰️

Paul has been busy training🥾 and sharing some updates with us as he gears up for his challenge.

Paul said: “The nerves are kicking in now as my trek for KidsCan is less than a week away, but I am also very excited.

My training has been going well, and I have completed several walks including a 20km hike around the Fairfield Horseshoe near Ambleside which included a 1,000m climb!

Having met some of our young ambassadors at the Gala & Awards, I feel even more motivated to raise funds for KidsCan. Hearing their stories and seeing how brave they are was inspiring and I know it will be the push I need when days are tough on the Picos de Europa.”

On Friday we attended the North West Cancer Research Gala & Awards, at the Titanic Hotel Liverpool ⭐

This was the first time the event has taken place since our two charities joined forces. The evening recognised advanced being made in cancer research and the dedication of supporters.

For the first time, we were honoured, to recognise some of our incredible children, in the ✨Children's Cancer Champion✨ category, for their resilience and sharing their own experiences to make other children and families' journeys a little bit better.

We are honoured to announce the Emma, Hughie and Oliver were all pronounced Children's Cancer Champions.

On 5th October, KidsCan Chair, Paul Moonan, will head off on an epic adventure, taking on a five day hut-to-hut trek through the Picos de Europa, Spain. ⛰️

The challenge will see Paul trekking 70km with a total elevation of approximately 4,450m. 📈

Paul is passionate about supporting the charity’s work to help children and their families facing the devastating impact of childhood cancer, while funding research to improve treatments for young patients.

Paul Said “I am excited, nervous and daunted! My training has been challenging, however, it is nice being able to raise money for KidsCan. KidsCan is an amazing charity that provides fantastic support for young people and their families who are undertaking very difficult journeys to confront their cancer diagnosis.”

Paul’s fundraising target could enable KidsCan to fully support a one-year research project undertaken by a university student, leaving a lasting legacy and changing the cancer journey for children and their families 💛

With a challenging trek ahead, Paul knows there will be tough moments on the trail but with every step helping to support KidsCan’s vital work, he has plenty of motivation to reach the finish line 🙌

Water sports and fun in the sun ☀️🌊

Five families recently joined us for an exciting afternoon at Liverpool Water Sports Centre, enjoying a few hours of adventure and quality time.

From Pedalos, Kayaking and taking on the aqua park, there was lot of smiles 😁, splashes and summer fun😎. Plenty of cake and coffee was enjoyed by all at the cafe as well.

Getting to share these experiences with some of our families are some of our favourite days and we already can't wait to host the next one soon 💛
