When the sun’s out, there’s nothing better than spending time outside with family and friends ☀️

However, it’s important we all know and remember how to enjoy the sun safely.

Meet Olly, a courageous boy whose life took a sudden turn, just after his second birthday, when he was diagnosed with Leukaemia.

He began immediate chemotherapy, showing a positive initial response to treatment. However his weakened immune system soon led to a severe stomach virus, resulting in a critical stay in intensive care.

After six months of intense chemotherapy Olly received the hopeful news: no Leukaemia cells were detected in his bone marrow. The next three years involved nightly oral chemotherapy.
In July 2017, Olly rang the end of treatment bell at the Royal Manchester Children's hospital.

Now in school and thriving, Olly continues to have regular check-ups. He is a clever, happy, and caring young boy, cherished by all who know him. His journey is a testament to his strength and the unyielding support of his family and medical team.

Olly's story, is one of hope, inspiring everyone in the KidsCan community 💛

We recently hosted a bowling day at Hollywood Bowl providing an afternoon of fun for children and their families 🎳

We had a great day, sharing some much needed laughter and joy 🤩 and connecting children, parents and siblings who are on the same journey.

It was lovely to see so many smiling faces😁 and we look forward to hosting our next event soon 🙌

Since 2002, we've been on a mission to transform the way childhood cancer is treated, funding pioneering research into kinder, more effective treatments and supporting families at every stage of their cancer journeys. Because every child with cancer deserves better.

We believe in funding the research that could change the future of childhood cancer treatment and being there for families living with childhood cancer right now through KidsCan Connect.

Survival is only the beginning. Every child who survives cancer deserves to grow up healthy, happy and free from the shadow of their treatment. 💛

Today we are shining a light on Laurie and Connie who have raised an incredible amount of money KidsCan by cutting their hair and shaving their head 💇‍♂️

Connie cut off a huge 19 inches of her hair and Laurie has shaved his head collectively raising an amazing £2,500! 🙌

Thank you so much to Connie and Laurie💛, they have made a real difference through their fundraising.

We think they look great with their new hair styles too! ✂️

🎗️ Despite childhood cancer being the leading cause of death in children across the UK, just 3.5% of total cancer research funding goes towards paediatric research.

Right now, 1 in 5 children still don’t survive — and 60% of survivors live with long-term side effects from treatments designed for adults.

At KidsCan, we believe every child deserves better. For over 22 years, we’ve been funding innovative research to develop safer, more effective treatments designed specifically for children — giving them the best chance not only to survive, but to thrive.

With your help, we can continue to support life-changing research and build a brighter future for children and families affected by cancer.

At KidsCan, we understand that childhood cancer affects more than just the body.

Supporting a child through cancer can be overwhelming, and looking after your mental wellbeing is just as important as caring for physical health. Small daily habits can make a big difference, helping families, friends, and loved ones find moments of calm and strength when things feel difficult.

Here are three simple ways to care for your mind:
🌿 Move your body with a short walk or gentle stretch.
☀️ Get outdoors even just for a few minutes to lift your spirits.
📱 Take screen breaks to give your mind space to rest and recharge.

Mental health matters. You are not alone. 💜
