Salford Pride was first founded in 2011, as the organising committee for the first Peel Park Pink Picnic. In 2017, after 7 years of organising Salford’s annual Le***an, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Non-binary, plus (LGBT+) pride celebration, the decision was made to change the name of the event to The Pink Picnic, the following year, in 2018, the organisation was renamed Salford Pride.

Racers, start your engines… because the queens competing in the new series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK are being revealed today! 👑🏁

What better time to share our backstage interview with the reigning Drag Race UK winner, Kyran Thrax, filmed after their incredible performance at this year’s Pink Picnic?

We asked Kyran what Pride means to them, what they enjoy about performing at Salford Pride and what they’ve been up to since snatching the crown.

Kyran also reveals their go-to post-show takeaway and answers the question we all want to know: would they return to the Werk Room for Drag Race All Winners? 👀

Watch the full interview and tell us in the comments which new queen you’re most excited to see!

Condragulations, Kyran — you’ll always be a winner, baby! 💖

Today, our thoughts are with Berlin. 🏳️‍🌈🕊️

We are heartbroken by the tragic events that unfolded and stand in solidarity with everyone affected, their loved ones, and the emergency services who responded.

Pride has always been about creating safe spaces where everyone can live authentically, with dignity and without fear. When something like this happens at a Pride event, it is felt across our entire LGBTQIA+ community, wherever we are in the world.

If you have LGBTQIA+ friends, family or colleagues, take a moment today to check in with them. A simple message, a phone call or a hug can make more difference than you realise. Community has always been our greatest strength, and now is the time to look after one another.

From everyone at Salford Pride, we send our love, strength and unwavering solidarity to Berlin.

Love will always be louder than hate. ❤️🏳️‍🌈

Feeling the Monday blues? Let’s fix that with a little Pink Picnic sparkle.

We’ve just shared some photos in the Pink Picnic album and they’re giving pure Peel Park energy — bold looks, big laughs, best mates, and that “summer can’t come quick enough” feeling.

Have a scroll, tag yourself and your crew, and tell us your favourite moment from the day.
