LGBTQ+ voluntary-led organisation delivering events and projects for the LGBTQ+ community in Salford, including the annual Pink Picnic in Peel Park, Salford 🌈

Salford Pride was first founded in 2011, as the organising committee for the first Peel Park Pink Picnic. In 2017, after 7 years of organising Salford’s annual Le***an, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Non-binary, plus (LGBT+) pride celebration, the decision was made to change the name of the event to The Pink Picnic, the following year, in 2018, the organisation was renamed Salford Pride.

Sometimes, simply being together can make a difference. 💗

This Thursday, Islington Mill will become a welcoming social space for members of our LGBTQIA+ community to connect, heal and find a little peace after a difficult time.

Following the attack at Berlin Pride, Holding Space in Solidarity is an opportunity to spend time with others in a safe and supportive environment.

You can:

💗 Share some food
🧵 Make friendship bracelets
💌 Write letters of love and solidarity to our community in Berlin
🫶 Or simply come along and spend time together

There is no expectation to say, do or take part in anything. Come as you are.

What better time to share our backstage interview with the reigning Drag Race UK winner, Kyran Thrax, filmed after their incredible performance at this year’s Pink Picnic?

🏳️‍🌈 Holding Space in Solidarity

Following the devastating attack at Berlin Pride, we know that many people across our LGBTQIA+ community have been left feeling upset, unsettled and worried.

So, on Thursday 20th August, Salford Pride is creating a welcoming social space where our community can simply come together, connect and heal — and hopefully find a little peace after a difficult few weeks. ❤️

There’s no pressure and no expectation. Just come as you are.
We’ll have food, the chance to make friendship bracelets, write letters of love and solidarity to our LGBTQIA+ community in Berlin, chat with others or simply spend some time surrounded by community.

Today, our thoughts are with Berlin. 🏳️‍🌈🕊️

We are heartbroken by the tragic events that unfolded and stand in solidarity with everyone affected, their loved ones, and the emergency services who responded.

Pride has always been about creating safe spaces where everyone can live authentically, with dignity and without fear. When something like this happens at a Pride event, it is felt across our entire LGBTQIA+ community, wherever we are in the world.

If you have LGBTQIA+ friends, family or colleagues, take a moment today to check in with them. A simple message, a phone call or a hug can make more difference than you realise. Community has always been our greatest strength, and now is the time to look after one another.

From everyone at Salford Pride, we send our love, strength and unwavering solidarity to Berlin.

Love will always be louder than hate. ❤️🏳️‍🌈
