Warning: this is distressing.

Yesterday, 4 beautiful, mature, shade-giving rowan trees were removed on Edward Street, just outside one of our gardens.

They were healthy (apart from damage caused by diggers removing the railway sleeper surrounds a few weeks earlier). They were not obstructing anything.

Edible High Town neighbours, staff and volunteers work hard to make our neighbourhood a greener, happier and a friendlier place to live.

This sets us back. I have no more words to describe this for now - at least not publicly.

Look at the pictures. Heartbreaking.

Be assured, I will be asking questions. Watch this space.

Luton Today beat us to it, but we're pleased to announce that we've received generous funding from the Thameslink YSYC fund. We're gardening on public land all along High Town Road - brightening up commutes to the train station. Come and garden with us!

A community garden project has been given nearly £10,000 to fund its sessions and spruce up underused green spaces near Luton railway station.

Just got sent this photo from one of our litter picking volunteers. How beautiful.

Finally got ‘round to sowing sunflowers. Varieties: Harlequin, Evening sun, and 2 self-collected varieties passed down through volunteers since 2020. Hope everything germinates! 🤞🌱

Tree guard work to continue this week🤞

New tree guards are being fitted in the People’s Park orchard this morning. They’ll help trees establish and protect trunks from damage. The old ones were barely standing upright! Thanks to the contractors from Maydencroft and to Living Heritage Coronation Funding.

Ps. The photo shows an old guard.
