Many of the challenges facing our worldโ€”from conflict and injustice to environmental degradationโ€”can be traced to a common thread: the choice to place self-interest above the common good.

Self-centered attitudes can grow into larger problems, affecting our , our , and even future . It also reminds us that lasting peace begins with personal โ€”when we choose over greed, over exploitation, and over self-interest.

What small choice can each of us make today to help build a more peaceful world? ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐ŸŒ

When Sacred Calendars Speak Together

A Reflection on the Closing Days of June 2026 and the Spiritual Foundations of Peace

As June 2026 draws to a close, the calendars of several religious and spiritual traditions converge around themes of fasting, remembrance, purification, prayer, gratitude, and responsibility. These observances do not diminish the distinct identities of the world's faiths. Rather, they reveal common moral concerns through which human beings are invited to cultivate self-discipline, deepen compassion, honor what others hold sacred, and strengthen the habits upon which peaceful societies depend.

Literary Voices of Change: Poetry, Prose and Narrative Perspectives

On Thursday, 18 June, Universal Peace Federation โ€“ UK's International Association of Art and Culture for Peace welcomed poets, authors and literature lovers for an inspiring evening of literary reflection, cultural dialogue and creative expression.

The event, organised by Dr Sangita Swechcha, featured the launch of two distinctive poetry collections: 'Pokhtak' by Dr Rupak Shrestha and 'Going to Darjeeling with My Father' by Nabin K. Chettri. Through readings and reflections, the authors explored love, family, memory, identity and the experience of living between cultures.

Uday Shankar Durjay and Shahd Karaeen shared further literary insights, while a panel moderated by Dr Sangita Swechcha examined how lived experience, pain and personal stories can give voice to the unheard and contribute to positive social change.
Ian Pelham Turner, international television broadcaster and UPFโ€“UK Patron, reflected on the role of media and the responsibility carried by words in shaping understanding.

The evening reminded us that literature can cross boundaries, preserve cultural memory and help people encounter one another with greater empathy. We are deeply grateful to all our speakers, contributors and guests who made this such a thoughtful and enriching occasion.

In a world often marked by uncertainty and division, hope remains one of humanity's greatest strengths. At UPF, we believe that must be accompanied by effort. Lasting happiness and are built when individuals and communities work together for the common goodโ€”a philosophy beautifully reflected in the words of Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon:

"I believe that our hope and all the efforts we invest as we pursue this will certainly bring about happiness."

Together, let us transform hope into meaningful action for the benefit of future generations.

This inspiring message reminds us that lasting happiness is not achieved by chance. It is the result of the hopes we nurture, the values we uphold, and the actions we take each day to serve others and strengthen our communities.

At UPF-UK, we remain committed to fostering dialogue, cooperation, and understanding among people of all backgrounds, believing that together we can help create a more peaceful and hopeful world for future generations.

What gives you hope for the future?

True love goes beyond what someone does for us or how they make us feel. It chooses to care, even through disappointment, correction, and difficult moments. It says, "You are loved"โ€”not because you've earned it, but because your worth is inherent.

The we experience shapes the love we . Imagine how different our and could be if more people knew the security of love. โค๏ธ

๐ŸŒ When civilizations listen, peace becomes possible.
On the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations today, Universal Peace Federation (UPF) reflects on the importance of listening across cultures, traditions and faiths.
In a world often marked by division, dialogue reminds us that every civilization carries wisdom, memory, beauty and hope. When people meet with respect and an open heart, peace begins to take root.

Many religious and cultural traditions tell stories about humanity's beginnings and the choices that shaped our world. Beneath these stories lies a profound question: What happens when love becomes self-centered rather than guided by , , and concern for others?

True love is more than a feelingโ€”it is a commitment to , , and living for the sake of others. When love is practiced with wisdom and integrity, it becomes the foundation for strong , healthy , and lasting .

Could humanity's greatest challengeโ€”and greatest hopeโ€”be learning how to love in a true and selfless way? โค๏ธโœจ
