We provide cultural and leisure-time activities, as well as advice, support and help for German-speaking people, their international friends, and the local community. We also run an au pair service, a volunteer service and a parent-toddler group.

🎉 Happy Volunteers’ Week 2026! 🎉

This week, we proudly celebrate and thank all of our past and present German and international volunteers whose time, energy and dedication make such a difference to our community!

Through their support, we are able to support charity and community partners including PiP (Pursuing Independent Paths), AJR (Association of Jewish Refugees), St John’s & St James Primary School, Friends of St Mary’s Hospital, and many others. Our volunteers also play a vital role in helping deliver the German YMCA’s weekly community programme, bringing people together through friendship, support, wellbeing activities and community engagement.

Whether serving behind the scenes, supporting events, welcoming guests, working at local charities, or contributing their skills and enthusiasm, our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do.

Thank you for your commitment, kindness and generosity. We salute you all! 🙌❤️

Thursday at the German YMCA!☕📖

We’re delighted to welcome military poet Clive Sanders for a powerful afternoon of poetry and reflection. Having served much of his career in the British Army and travelled extensively to conflict zones, Clive will share a moving collection of poems inspired by his experiences of war, service and humanity.

Clive is also Poet in Residence for our partner charity Never Such Innocence.

The talk will be followed by tea, coffee and cake. All are warmly welcome.

Join us for a beautiful afternoon of live music at our April Schubertiade 🌿

Enjoy vibrant chamber music for flute, oboe, and piano, performed by the wonderful trio:

🎶 KramerDurcan Duo – A Musical Feast 🎶

Join us for a wonderful evening of live music with the KramerDurcan Duo on Thursday 12 March at 7pm at Lancaster Hall Hotel.

Violinist Miriam Kramer and pianist Nicholas Durcan first met on a Eurostar train in 2004 and have since performed together over 500 times worldwide, with broadcasts on BBC Radio 3, Classic FM and WQXR. Known for their heartfelt and fiery performances, they bring vibrant programmes that audiences love.
