“This journey remains incredibly hard. Brain injury doesn’t go away when you’re released from hospital. There are ongoing battles. Not just for Dad, but for our entire family.”

We’re incredibly grateful to Shannon for sharing her family’s story so openly and honestly.

After her dad suffered a catastrophic brain injury in February 2024, Shannon and her family faced months of fear, uncertainty, surgeries, and rehabilitation. They were told he may never recognise them again.

Today, he’s home with his family and continuing his recovery every single day.

Stories like Shannon’s are why Brain Research UK exists. Research gives families hope when they need it most.

Thank you, Shannon, for helping shine a light on the realities of brain injury and the urgent need for more research.

Please watch and share this film, and if you can, donate to help fund more vital brain research.

🎉 Congratulations to Anika on completing her first-ever marathon for Brain Research UK!

Anika took on the challenge after her mum was diagnosed with a meningioma, a type of brain tumour.

"Watching someone I love go through that was incredibly tough. By running this marathon, I wanted to help fund vital research so people can receive faster diagnoses, better treatments, and greater hope for the future."

Not only did Anika cross the finish line, she also surpassed her fundraising target, raising £261 for essential brain research ❤️

Thank you, Anika, for your incredible support and determination. We're proud to have you on

More new research into brain tumours is starting soon!

Glioblastoma is a highly aggressive brain cancer, and is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths for under-40s. Its adaptability means nearly all cases come back after treatment.

Dr Brooks and her team are working to understand that adaptability.

Her team discovered that radiation can cause some glioblastoma cells to become 'polyploid', meaning they contain an extra set of DNA. It makes them more adaptable, more resistant to treatment, and may be a hidden driver for recurrence.

But thanks to Brain Research UK supporters, this project aims to change that by uncovering how these polyploid cells survive and how to stop them.

Over £1 Million raised at the 2026 TCS London Marathon!

and their wonderful supporters have raised £1.1 million. A phenomenal achievement and the highest we have ever raised at this stage of the London Marathon.

It was more than just a marathon for many of our runners. It was a cause close to their hearts; issues that impact their lives, families, friends, and beyond. Research is still needed, and thanks to everyone who supported, we are another big step closer to a world where everyone with a neurological condition lives better, longer.

Thank you to everyone who donated, for every message of encouragement, and for each mile run. It is an incredible accomplishment.
