A PROMISE KEPT! A community changed!

Thanks to our incredible donors, the water system we've been building in Arat Ber is now complete and operational. This isn't just about pipes and taps, it's about dignity, health and hope for an entire community.

This water system is now serving families who once walked hours for water. Every drop flowing through this system represents a child who can now go to school instead of fetching water; a mother with time to build her livelihood; and a community stepping into a healthier future.

NEW PROJECT BEGINS - this month, HOPE is launching a new water and sanitation project in the rural community of Zala Barena, in southern Ethiopia. Within four months, the 1,025 residents—men, women, and children—will have access to clean, local water. This will end long, exhausting daily walks for water, improve overall health, give women more time to earn income for their families and allow children to attend school. A brighter future awaits Zala Barena!

SPOTLIGHT ON LIDIYA: HOPE Ethiopia's Livelihood Coordinator & Safeguarding Focal Person

With over 13 years experience at HOPE Ethiopia, Lidiya is empowering vulnerable communities toward self reliance.

Growing up witnessing poverty, food insecurity, and water access challenges, Lidiya said, 'I joined HOPE because I wanted to be part of sustainable change, not just temporary assistance.'

At HOPE Ethiopia, Lidiya supports women's self help groups, small business development, and capacity building training. As their Safeguarding Focal Person, she ensures protection principles guide all our programming.

"Watching a community grow stronger and more hopeful gives me real joy and motivation every day," said Lidiya.

Her work in three words: Empowerment, Sustainability, and Transformation.

Choose which life-changing equivalent 'gift' you'd like to give:
- £12 will buy 4 metres of pipe that will help deliver clean water from the capped spring to one of the new water points in the village
- £22 will buy 30 fruit tree seedlings to provide an additional source of fruit and vitamins, as well as environmental protection from erosion and landslides
- £44 will buy 1/2 kg of improved seeds for local farmers to grow a greater variety of vegetables and improve food security
- £80 will pay 6 months salary for a locally hired community member to teach health, hygiene & sanitation skills to each household and at the local school
- £116 will provide entrepreneurial training for four of the women in self-help groups so they might each start a micro business to earn needed money for their household
- £145 will bring life-changing clean water to one family in the community (based on a family of five people)
