any animals in our branch area. At any one time we can be looking after 30 to 40 cats who are waiting for new homes. We also assist the Inspectorate team rescuing all sorts of animals. We need the support from our local community so we can continue our work. The RSPCA mission is to ensure animals have a good life by rescuing and caring for those in need, by advocating on behalf of all animals and by inspiring everyone to treat them with compassion and respect. The UK Government has issued a temporary ban on the sale of disposable barbecues due to the current heatwaves and ongoing wildfires.

This is a very welcome move, as wildfires can have a devastating impact for everyone, including wildlife.

Other things you can do to help include:
- Avoid lighting other fires - or anything that could create sparks
- Consider picnics instead of barbecues
- Don't set off sky lanterns (this applies all year round, as animals can also get trapped in, or ingest them)
- Take litter with you - don’t leave items such as glass or other materials that can cause a fire
- Fully extinguish ci******es and dispose of them responsibly and away from dry areas
- If you see a fire, move away from the area and report it immediately to the emergency services - never put yourself at risk by attempting to tackle one.

Wildlife need our help more than ever in this heat, and small acts of kindness make a big difference. Please look out for animals and leave out food and water where possible, particularly for those who may have become displaced due to wildfires.

UPDATE - Dusk is now reserved for her lovely forever home 😻

Dusk 🐈‍⬛

On the lookout for more tummy rubs or maybe another bed for her to refuse to leave. This is the best little black cat possibly ever. Friendly, funny, affectionate and sociable. She adores people and is happiest curled up beside you or even cuddling up with you in (your) bed. Speaking of beds, she has her own, and it’s a non-negotiable part of her life.

This girl was found left in a carrier, we think as a stray, and taken to one of our hospitals before coming into foster care with us. Several times a day she gets the zoomies, races through her cat tunnel and dashes around before happily settling down for a well earned nap in one of her beds. Again.

Dusk is only 2 and is looking for a forever home she can move her little bed into. Given that she’s perfect it shouldn’t be hard to find! 😊

The heartbreaking answer is yes... 💔

Giving pets as prizes, especially goldfish at funfairs, is still happening across England and Wales, causing severe and unnecessary suffering to many innocent animals.

73% of people believe local councils should ban this practice, but to end it for good, we need to know where it's happening.

Please admire the perfect feline features of Beautiful Bagel, a very sad little cat when she first came to us who has settled in perfectly to her new life in her forever home 🫶

This girl was in foster with us for a long time (over a year!) and she had several press releases and a special RSPCA appeal. Bagel came into our care after living in a very stressful and noisy environment, and it soon became clear she was traumatised and terrified and was going to need a lot of support. With time, love and patience from her foster carer, along with veterinary and behavioural guidance, she slowly learned to relax and feel safe and even allow her fur to be brushed (a big step for Bagel!)
Her foster carers did a fantastic job with her and we’re very grateful to them.

Bagel was adopted by a wonderful lady with a quiet house and garden and after 3 months together they’ve formed a lovely bond. We’re so happy for you Bagel! Thank you to our supporters too. Without you we wouldn’t be able to help cats like Bagel. 🧡

Little Panda is still waiting for his people. We’re not sure why 😔 his sisters have found their forever homes and he’s been left behind. He’s the sweetest character who loves trotting around the house with his ‘treasures’ (your things) that he will kindly re-gift to you!

Oyster was abandoned on a London bus, disguised as laundry this weekend 💔

It was only when someone tried to get past the laundry bag that the frightened, stressed marmoset made her presence known.

The bus driver and Metroline team did a wonderful job taking care of her in a cool, dark place until we arrived and took her to a specialist facility for care.

They are now supporting our investigation to find who left her on the bus. We would be keen to hear from anyone who may have seen a person board the 302 bus with a laundry bag, travelling between Mill Hill Broadway Station and Kensal Rise on Friday 17th July. Please call us on 0300 123 8018.

Oyster is doing well with experienced keepers who hope to introduce her to a male companion soon, all being well 💙

The UK Government estimates that up to 5,000 primates are being kept as pets across England. As of April 2026, licences are required, which means any kept as pets are subject to strict regulations relating to their physical, mental, behavioural and social needs, as they already are in specialist facilities such as zoos.

Ultimately, we believe primates should not be kept as pets. We want to see a future where monkeys are no longer kept in homes, but protected in environments that truly meet their needs.

Here’s little Panda 🐼

Some of you have been asking about him; he’s the last kitten left of our ‘Bear Family.’ All his siblings have homes but he hasn’t yet… 😢
Our little Tuxie chap is a bit of a kleptomaniac and loves collecting little treasures and proudly carrying them around the house! If you’re missing something, Panda probably knows where it is. He’s a really playful character and would like someone who is at home a lot. 🫶 his fosterer is really going to miss him but it’s time he found his own forever family

Some of you may remember the lovely Jerry, a poorly stray who came into our care in spring 2025 at around seven years old. He was struggling with extremely sore eyes, and thanks to the wonderful team at RSPCA Finsbury Park Animal Hospital, he underwent surgery on both eyes to make him more comfortable. Sadly, one eye couldn't be saved.

Jerry's journey wasn't over there. He also battled a urinary tract infection and skin problems, meaning he needed a special diet and ongoing medication. We knew finding him the right home might take a little longer—but we also knew there was someone out there who would love him just as he was.

Fast forward one year, and Jerry is thriving! ❤️ His family recently celebrated his one-year adoptiversary with a party, and we couldn't be happier for him. Swipe through to see some of the adorable photos from his special day.

His adopters shared the perfect message: "Hopefully it helps others see what great outcomes they can have adopting an older rescue cat."

To make the celebration even more special, Jerry made a donation to help other cats get the second chance they deserve.

Well, it’s time to say goodbye to 3 of our 4 kittens from our ‘Bear Family.’ We’re happy, sad, and excited for them and their new families!
This gorgeous group have been in our foster care since April after their pregnant mum came to us and we’ve watched them grow up together. Over the next couple of weeks Ursula, Boo Boo and Fozzie will all leave for their forever homes.
But; one little guy is left… Panda. Our little Tuxie boy is still looking for his perfect match. 😢 Could you be the one to offer him his forever family? It’s unlikely you would regret it, just look at him…
We’ll tell you a bit more about our last remaining munchkin in the next post 🫶

We raise our own funds to keep our little branch going and we rely on the generosity and goodwill of our volunteers and fundraisers! We especially like to hear from our young supporters and their engagement with animals and their pets.

So, please show your appreciation (on behalf of guinea pigs everywhere!) for David and Suri, his seven year old daughter who recently raised money for us by completing a 30-day exercise challenge (it sounded exhausting!) which began on 18th May and finished a few days ago! They also created a fundraising poster in the local area to help encourage donations. 👏

David said it was a special project for Suri, who is very passionate about animal welfare—particularly the wellbeing of small animals like guinea pigs. 🩷 thank you guys!!
