And!

Don't forget to join us tonight if you can, to hear him at our final Donizetti Song Project launch with Carlo Rizzi. The launch starting at 6pm BST/7pm CET will be immediately followed by the YouTube premiere of Volume 8

Happy release week! Our focus track from Donizetti Songs Volume 8, 'Viva il matrimonio' is a humourous yet sentimental wedding song, likely commissioned from Donizetti by the father of a bride.

Written in Naples in 1843, the same year Don Pasquale premiered in Paris, it evokes the sophisticated charm of opera buffa: a perfect mix of humour, elegance and heartfelt sentiment.

Available exclusively now on our website and YouTube ahead of Friday's official release date featuring Nicola Alaimo and our Artistic Director Carlo Rizzi.

Last November, we released two additional Donizetti song tracks with Canadian soprano Sarah Dufresne - one in French and one in Italian - with Carlo Rizzi.

You can listen to both on your favourite streaming platform or via our YouTube channel 🎶

This is an extract from 'La Bergère du Tyrol “Ô la belle campagne”' - never recorded before and only recently identfied as part of Donizetti's canon in 2022 by musicologist Ruben Vernazza.

A song can be no less difficult than an aria from an opera - and our second pre-release track from Donizetti Songs Volume 8 is a case in point. Look at the concentration on the artists' faces❗

Donizetti meets Weber's Die Freischütz (1821) with this unusual combination of voice, piano and French horn conjuring the world of the hunt 🎶
