🏰 A Wonderful Day at the Tower of London!

We had a fantastic day exploring one of London's most iconic landmarks with our Carer community.

From discovering the incredible Crown Jewels and meeting the famous Yeoman Warders (Beefeaters) to hearing fascinating stories spanning over 1,000 years of history, it was a day full of discovery and memorable moments.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so special. We hope you enjoyed stepping back in time and exploring the Tower of London with us! ✨

✨ A summer of new experiences for our Young Adult Carers aged 16–25!

Our Young Adult Carers had the opportunity to take some time out from their caring responsibilities, explore London and connect with other young people who understand their experiences.

🚡 Battersea Lift – Taking in spectacular views across London while spending time together, meeting other Young Adult Carers and enjoying a well-deserved ice cream.

🎨 Frameless Immersive Art – Exploring a unique immersive gallery experience, stepping inside famous works of art and experiencing art through interactive and cutting-edge technology.

It was a great opportunity to try something new, enjoy some time together and create positive memories outside of their caring responsibilities. 🌟

📸 Our Young Carers aged 12–16 have had a summer full of creativity, adventure and new experiences!

From developing photography skills to immersive gaming and outdoor challenges, there was something for everyone.

📱 Photography Workshop – Working with the Renaissance Foundation, Young Carers explored creative photography and learned how to take professional-style photos using their own phones.

🎮 Sandbox VR – An immersive VR experience where Young Carers worked together in a specialist 3D arena, exploring virtual worlds and taking on challenges as a team.

🌳 Go Ape – A day of high ropes, zip lines and forest obstacles, helping Young Carers build confidence, resilience and teamwork skills, followed by lunch at Tonkotsu.

These experiences gave our Young Carers the chance to try something different, develop new skills and spend time with other young people who understand their caring experiences. ✨

☀️ A summer full of fun and adventure for our Young Carers aged 5–11!

This summer, our younger Young Carers had the chance to enjoy a fantastic range of activities, make new friends and try new experiences.

⚽ Football Match & Picnic – A fun day in the sunshine, with a football kickabout, skills and games with a coach, followed by a picnic with sandwiches and snacks.

🎢 Flip Out! – An action-packed day exploring the indoor adventure park, with soft play, bumper cars, roller skating and football, followed by a meal at Zizzi’s.

🎡 George Irvin’s Funfair – An exciting day enjoying thrilling rides and classic fairground attractions, with lunch at Nando’s.

🐠 SeaLife Aquarium – Discovering amazing marine life and exploring underwater habitats, followed by dinner at Pizza Express.

🎶 CREATE Music Workshop – A three-day music project where Young Carers developed their creativity and confidence, created their own show and performed at the Chelsea Arts Festival.

It’s been wonderful to see our Young Carers having fun, building confidence and making memories together this summer! 🌟

Highlights from Carers Week 2026 ✨

Throughout Carers Week 2026, we had the pleasure of bringing Carers together through a range of activities, events and opportunities to connect, reflect and recharge.

From wellbeing sessions and creative activities to community events and shared conversations, it was a chance to celebrate the incredible contribution unpaid Carers make every day.

Thank you to everyone who joined us throughout the week. We hope Carers Week helped you feel recognised, gave you time to focus on your own wellbeing, connect with others, and enjoy some well-deserved moments for yourself.

Our support doesn't stop here; Wandsworth Carers' Centre is here for you all year round.

Not every Young Carer is easy to recognise.

Behind school, friendships and everyday routines, thousands of children and young people quietly take on caring responsibilities for someone they love. From helping with daily tasks to offering emotional support, many balance far more than most people realise.

This short animation shines a light on the reality of being a Young Carer, the challenges they face, and why recognising and supporting them matters.

At Wandsworth Carers’ Centre, we believe no Carer should have to navigate their caring role alone. From advice and wellbeing support to training, activities and peer groups, local support can help Carers access the information, services and connections they need.
