If you've seen our previous 'cupdates', sharing tales of a well-travelled OnePlusOne coffee-mug, this photo of it being joined by a partner might bring a Friday afternoon smile. Shared by one of our team members lucky enough to be enjoying a morning swim at the beach, the letter R was found discarded among the sand. As a relationships charity, this photo was meant to be! There's lots we could say about this signifying the importance of togetherness, taking time to enjoy the things you love and valuing connection. All true and what you would expect from us. But today, we just wanted to share a lovely photo taken by a colleague who gave OnePlusOne a thought in a moment when she was doing other things. Because that means a lot.

Did you know that good quality relationships can actually buffer and protect poor mental health?

We welcome news that the government has appointed Michelle Welsh MP as its first ever Maternity Advisor.

Pregnancy and early parenthood are significant life transition and it’s vital that expecting and new parents can access the support they need at every stage. This includes supporting parental relationships during their journey into parenthood, helping them to communicate openly, navigate challenges together, and seek help when it’s needed.

We will be writing to Michelle Welsh MP to share our evidence and insights on the importance of supporting parental relationships through pregnancy, early parenthood and beyond. We look forward to a positive dialogue that recognises the long-lasting benefits this will have for parents, babies and families.

But relationships shouldn't require us to ignore our own wellbeing to provide care for others.
Healthy relationships aren't built on pushing yourself past your limits, they're built on honesty, understanding, and compassion.

When both partners are struggling, there may be less energy, less patience and more room for misunderstanding. Everyday conversations can feel harder, even when both partners care deeply for one another.

Support during these times can be about recognising you're both having a hard time, lowering the pressure, and finding small ways to move through it together.

A small check-in, a softer response, or a little more honesty.
A little goes a long way.
