Disabled people are FIVE times more likely to get the correct benefits award at appeal stage, than from the DWP's mandatory reconsideration.

Our new research shows that mandatory reconsideration is in fact a (wasteful!) barrier to justice.

We are calling for an independent review body to replace mandatory reconsideration completely, on grounds of independence, stronger evidence-gathering and real accountability for the DWP.

We are concerned about their plans for broad reforms.

However, there was also a lot to welcome in the latest draft of recommendations: fewer unnecessary PIP reassessments and an emphasis on getting more decisions right the first time, which we’ve been repeatedly asking for. What did you think?

Messages of hope from the people who shape our campaign and research on temporary accommodation.

🟣We've had some great wins fighting Westminster's growing temporary accommodation crisis.

We campaigned with Trust for London to Fix the Five Basics.
The council is now auditing its provision of kitchen and laundry facilities, storage, Wi-Fi and information.
The council introduced some positive changes to how they communicate with residents.
We launched new research on the dangers of out-of-borough temporary accommodation.
We secured media coverage in the The Big Issue, forcing the council to respond.

But there is much left to do and wins to look forward to. A big thank you to fellow campaigners and TA residents for continuously showing up and never giving up.
