Meet Nicola!

Nicola is our new Coordinator for Northern Ireland. We are so happy to have her as part of our team! 💜

Nicola: ''I am delighted to have joined ARC as the Northern Ireland Coordinator. Since starting in June, I’ve been busy getting to know my colleagues throughout the UK, as well as healthcare professionals and organisations in Northern Ireland, while learning more about the excellent work and partnerships already established across the region. I’ve been particularly focused on understanding the current landscape of antenatal screening, diagnosis and TFMR.

Over the coming months, I am looking forward to learning more about the experiences of parents and professionals and identifying opportunities to improve awareness of ARC and the support we offer. I am excited to build on the strong foundations already in place and work collaboratively across Northern Ireland to ensure that parents receive compassionate, non-directive information and support. I hope to contribute to the continued development of high-quality bereavement and antenatal care, while expanding opportunities for education and training for healthcare professionals.

We will be hosting a Northern Ireland training day on 26 November, focusing on supporting professionals following a prenatal diagnosis. I am also looking forward to developing further opportunities for professional training and family support across Northern Ireland in the coming months.''

We are always so grateful to our donors and fundraisers. Ever wondered where your money goes?

Parent support: Donations help us run our helpline, supporting around 6,000 parents each year, as well as our website, forum and online parent meetings. A gift of £10 a month helps us support two families through our helpline. Raising £1,000 means we can support 200 families.

Professional training: We provide specialist training for healthcare professionals across the UK, helping improve sensitive communication with parents receiving unexpected news from antenatal testing. Raising £1,500 through a marathon, hike or community event funds one face-to-face training session for 30–40 healthcare professionals.

Outreach: We work with community organisations including HomeStart to reach families who may not otherwise access our services. Just £10 provides a support pack for one family, while £1,000 funds 100 packs for distribution through local community partners.

ARC is funded almost entirely by donations and gifts. If you've valued our support, please consider donating to help us continue being there for families who need us. You can donate easily on our website or by calling 020 7713 7356 💜

Our next 'TFMR: Questions & Conversations' Q&A zoom will take place on Wednesday, 21 October at 8 pm.

Join us for another informal hour-long event hosted by ARC Director Jane Fisher, featuring host of Time to Talk TFMR Hayley Manning and Dagmar Tapon, a genetic counsellor specialising in the prenatal period.

It will allow ARC parents to ask questions and discuss all aspects of the TFMR experience in a safe, welcoming environment.

In order to book, you will need to be registered with ARC (you can check with us at [email protected] if you are not sure). Places are limited to 30, so book yours today here: https://buff.ly/ArhKNLK
