The AURA QUE range is made in direct collaboration with fair trade producer groups, breathing new li We are based in Hastings on the South Coast, UK.

We design with integrity, creating beautifully handcrafted products to be treasured season after season. Central to our ethos is nurturing long-lasting relationships with our producers in Nepal, and we are on a quest to develop our most ethical and eco-friendly supply chain possible. We use the below principles to guide us along our way:

PEOPLE - Community is everything to us, from the people who make our products to the individuals who buy them. INTEGRITY - ‘Namaste’ is a Nepalese greeting which means ‘An expression of appreciation and respect to one another’ - this is our mantra. PRODUCT - We treasure the unique handmade qualities of our products, valuing the time and skill devoted to creating each piece. IMPACT - Providing work and economic security for the people that make our products is our number one focus but we are also truly committed to evolving all areas of our business to reduce our impact on the planet. CELEBRATION - ‘’Same, same but different’’ is one of our favourite responses from our Nepalese team… At AURA QUE, we love the quirks and characteristics between different cultures and the fact that we are all ‘same, same but different’.

New Banana Yarn Colours inspired by Himalayan Sunsets 🌄

I’ve always loved sunrises and sunsets, wherever I am. They’re one of those everyday moments that can suddenly make you stop and look – the colours can be completely unexpected, sometimes almost unreal. 💜🧡🩷🩶💚

For AW26, that sense of wonder inspired five new colours for our vegan banana fibre accessories, taking particular inspiration from sunsets over the Himalayan landscape in Nepal:
💜 Indigo Purple – deep, dramatic purple
🧡 Saffron Orange – a rich, golden orange
🩷 Sunset Pink – a soft, hazy blush
🩶 Clay Grey – an earthy mountain grey
💚 Twilight Green – a deep, peaceful green

The new colours are available across our BIBEK handwoven scarves and VARGA crochet wristwarmers, handmade from banana fibre yarn at our long-term partner workshop in Bhaktapur, Nepal.

Run by Deepchand, the small workshop provides work for local people using wonderfully hands-on, cottage-industry processes. Our BIBEK scarves are woven in long rolls before being hand dyed using azo-free dyes, thoroughly washed, line dried and individually cut and finished.

I first met Deepchand in 2009, when he was weaving cotton fabrics for Sana Hastakala, and we’ve been working together ever since. More recently, we developed our banana fibre range together, and I’m really excited to give this popular collection a fresh new palette for AW26. 🌱

🕯️ MAKING OUR JYOTI CANDLESTICK HOLDERS IN NEPAL

A little behind-the-scenes look at how our JYOTI stoneware candlestick holders come to life…

When I was in Nepal last Easter, I visited the main workshop where we develop part of our ceramics range. Here is Hari making our final sample by hand at the potter’s wheel. 🇳🇵

Each JYOTI starts as clay on the wheel, where the main form and plate are carefully thrown. The measurements are checked as it’s made - with an allowance for the shrinkage that naturally happens as the clay dries and is fired in the kiln.

The handle is made separately from a piece of rolled clay, shaped by hand and carefully attached to the thrown form before the piece is dried, fired and glazed.
It’s a process with lots of small stages - and one where the maker has to think ahead to how the finished piece will emerge from the kiln. The handmade nature means there will always be those little variations in shape and finish that make each one slightly different. 🤎

The finished JYOTI candlestick holders in new colourways Green Cardamom and Orange Terracotta have now arrived as part of our AW26 collection.

It’s Fairtrade Fortnight, and a good opportunity to celebrate all the brilliant brands, businesses and organisations working towards making trade fairer for the people behind the things we buy.

From the Fairtrade coffee, chocolate and bananas in our shopping baskets to clothing, homewares and jewellery, we’re always happy to support businesses putting people, planet and fair pay at the heart of what they do. 💚

At AURA QUE, our products involve a wide variety of materials, components, crafts and production processes, so our collections don’t carry Fairtrade product certification.

Instead, our approach is rooted in the Ten Principles of Fair Trade - covering areas including fair payment, good working conditions, opportunities for economically marginalised producers, transparency, respect for the environment and long-term trading relationships.

We’re very proud to be a member of — BAFTS Fair Trade Network UK, a network of independent shops and suppliers committed to Fair Trade. BAFTS provides accountability for its members through the Ten Principles of Fair Trade, helping businesses like ours demonstrate and continually develop the way we work with our producer partners. 🤝

For us, that means thinking about the people behind our products - the skilled makers we work with in Nepal, the relationships we build over the last 18 years, and how the decisions we make here in the UK affect the people making our collections.

One of the questions I get asked surprisingly often about our felt slippers is… “Can I wear them outside? You know… just to take the bins out?” 😄

Our original MITA felt slippers are pretty hardy - lots of you tell us yours last 2–3 years - but with their suede soles, they’ve always been designed as indoor slippers.

So, for quite a while, I’ve been looking for a rubber sole that I actually liked. Working with our artisan partner Anup and his team in Nepal, we’ve finally found one! 🙌

Meet AMAL - our new handmade felt mule slippers, finished with a textured, hardwearing natural rubber sole.

They have the same cosy felt uppers and padded insoles we love, but with that extra bit of practicality underfoot - whether you’re popping into the garden, stepping outside the back door or, yes, taking the bins out! 🌿

They’re also a leather-free alternative to our original MITA mules, with premium vegan microfibre sizing tags in place of leather.

AMAL has just arrived in EU sizes 36–46, in two very wearable shades: 🌿 Ivy Green and 🤎 Mushroom Grey - our new melange neutral.

At £10 more than our suede-sole MITA slippers, they’re a slightly higher-priced option - but I’m very interested to see how long they last compared with our trusty MITA originals!

♻️ SECOND HAND SEPTEMBER

Some of my favourite belongings have come from charity shops - helped along by my Mum and sister, who have both always been avid bargain hunters! There’s something particularly satisfying about finding something unexpected and giving it another life. 💚

So Oxfam’s Second Hand September feels like a good excuse to share a little bit of AURA QUE history…

Did you know that between 2009 and 2011 I worked with Oxfam, turning donated leather jackets into a collection of clasp handbags?

I worked with my cousin Claire and we called the range SEQUEL - a fitting name for bags that gave unwanted leather a new chapter. I designed and made the bags myself in small batches, working from leatherwork factories in Homerton and Leyton, East London, run by some great people I’d met while working on leather productions whilst at uni.

The finished bags were then sold through Oxfam’s boutique concept stores in London. 👜

I loved making my own products, but as AURA QUE began to grow, juggling both became too much and eventually something had to give. Still dreaming up plans for a a new 'Made in UK' recycled leather range for AURA QUE in future!

I still love the idea at the heart of those early designs: using what already exists, finding value in overlooked materials, and creating something that can be enjoyed for years to come - thats why our recycled sari range is so important to me!

Here’s to more second-hand finds, charity-shop treasures and giving good things another life. ♻️

💙 NEW FOR AW26 - MOODY BLUE 💙

Welcome to Moody Blue, the newest shade in our merino wool collection - and the final colour to complete our earthy palette inspired by the landscapes of Nepal. 🏔️🌿

Moody Blue joins Burnt Orange, Charcoal Grey, Desert Beige and Olive Green - five shades inspired by the colours I encounter on treks I have been on over the years during my time in Nepal.

Swipe through and you’ll spot Tilicho Lake, high in the Himalayas near Manang on the Annapurna Circuit. I made the 1,000m climb up to the lake back in 2016 with my sister and her partner Mike. 💙⛰️

A rich, softened blue, Moody Blue takes its cue from the cooler side of Nepal: deep Himalayan skies, mountain lakes and slate-grey mists. It sits beautifully alongside the warmer natural tones of the collection.

Together, the five shades tell a colour story of Nepal — earth, stone, forest, fire and sky. 🧡🩶🤎💚💙

And a huge thank you to all the talented makers who have worked on our AW26 collection. 🧶 Our new season stock has just arrived, and we’re so excited to finally start sharing it with you!

🍂 AUTUMN EQUINOX - 22 SEPTEMBER

Over the last year, I’ve been getting more interested in the idea of using the changing seasons - and the solstices and equinoxes that mark them - as little points in the year to pause, reflect and regroup.

Life and running a small business can get very busy, and I like the thought of having these four natural markers in the calendar as a reminder to slow down for a moment, notice where I am and think about what I want to take into the season ahead. I’m hoping to make more space for this over the coming year.

The Autumn Equinox feels like a particularly lovely place to start. 🍁 A moment of balance between light and dark, marking the shift into shorter days and a season traditionally associated with harvest, gratitude, reflection and letting go.

For me, autumn feels like a time to look back at what has grown over the year, appreciate what’s been good, and think about what I might be ready to release - things that no longer serve me, or that I simply don’t need to carry into the next season.

And perhaps seasonal rituals don’t need to be complicated. A walk outside as the leaves change, writing down a few things you’re grateful for, cooking something seasonal, lighting a candle, creating a cosy corner at home, or simply making time to sit quietly with a cup of tea.

Small ways to mark the change, slow things down and reconnect with the rhythm of the year. 🕯️

Our main winter shipment from Nepal has had a slightly longer journey than planned! After being delayed by around 10 days in transit in Kuwait, we’re now hoping to have it safely with us early next week. It is ALOT of boxes!
