'The task, in which the Church has a very important part to play, involves appealing to our common humanity. It means proclaiming the sanctity of human life - the unique value of every individual, and the interdependence of all human beings. It means proclaiming the invioable rights of every person and their responsibilities, and protecting those who become vulnerable through illness and disability or old age. Cardinal Basil Hume (The Mystery of the Incarnation)
