Changing the world can take many forms, as we see among the pupils of Bedford Modern School. The school, its staff, and its students are making a difference in our community and beyond.

Last year, EL PRISM partnered with Bedford Modern School to donate textbooks, reading books and school uniforms to schools and libraries across The Gambia. Together with BMS’s Cultural Society and Charities Committee, we helped raise funds for the shipment and build awareness through a cake sale.

Through this charitable donation, we helped provide thousands of books and essential uniforms to kids in remote parts of The Gambia. This has not only broadened the knowledge of the Gambian community and kids, but also offered wider access to reading to many who may not have had this opportunity before.

'Looking back on the last academic year, I Ena Loum offer heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped make this possible: the UK shipping agent, the clearing agents in The Gambia, personal contacts, school administrators, and friends of EL PRISM who made the distribution of the books and uniforms happen.

This gesture deeply touched my heart as it has been one of the largest donations we’ve ever received since we have started. I hope this story and gesture will inspire you as much as it did the kids we have been able to reach.'

Thank you.

Summer of sports!
The past weeks have seen the world largely united behind the 2026 World Cup football tournament. 48 teams from 48 countries, 104 games played, about 281 goals scored, and a few records broken. Amid the laughter and tears, we’ve heard some remarkable personal journeys and seen some amazing characters. These four footballers ( , , ) have become household names and superheroes for many young children. They didn’t get to where they are overnight; each had a mum or dad who invested hours of labour of love, whether in long drives, nutrition, coaching, or so forth.

let us build on that legacy and get all children active this summer. Enroll our young people in summer football camps near you. There are also other sports (tennis, hockey, rugby, rowing, swimming, basketball, cycling, cricket, to mention a few) that didn’t make the headlines but run summer camps 🏕

Mental Health Awareness 2026
Inform. Inspire. Action.
This year's mental health awareness week message is that awareness alone is not enough; we need collective action as a society.
El Prism’s key takeaways from the 2026 campaign are:
- Schools and Vocational Centres: While we have become more comfortable discussing mental health in schools and at work, we need to take daily, actionable steps to create lasting impact. Schools should incorporate this into pupils' daily learning and create safe spaces for children to talk about the challenges they face and their social anxieties.
- Workplaces: Employers are encouraged to take a proactive approach to staff well-being across all employee life cycles.

- Communities: A local councillor to lead and bring together communities. Activity-based gatherings are the best way to promote active engagement. Cake and creative arts stalls to showcase the stories and journeys of mental health victims.

Earth Day and beyond!

As the weather warms, consider supporting biodiversity by conserving and creating habitats for these fragile yet beautiful species.

You can also check out the Young Farmers Club. Make time on weekends to grab a backpack, some boots, and plenty of drinks to join young farmers' rallies in communities around you. Encourage young people to develop lifelong skills in regenerative agriculture, including land cultivation, animal husbandry, and raising lambs and chickens.
