Thankful for an afternoon of sun and sea-fresh breezes on Felixstowe beach with generous, curious, and open-hearted people.
We gathered, imagined, and stepped into a ritual of connection: slipping into the bodies and consciousness of other creatures, tuning into their wild, hidden lives.
A puffin diving into the storm-dark deeps for food.
Two great gulls circling on invisible air currents.
A blackbird scratching the soil with fine claws, then flitting to the treetops to feed their third batch of nestlings.
From there, we stepped into the blur-space between knowing and imagining the mysterious worlds of others who share this web of life.
Some truths are felt, not solved. And what a gift that is!
The Interspecies Meditation was created by Ruth Catlow and Sarah Friend in 2021 to support immersion into the lives of other species as preparation for multi-species role-play events.
Since then, we have hosted it around the world with thousands of people.
Now we meet 2pm every last Sunday of the month as part of Furtherfield’s Reimagine This Coastal Town - a programme of chats’, meetups, exhibitions, making sessions, and a Live Action Role-play (LARP) - all to support creative and imaginative connection across generations and between species here in Felixstowe.
