We were honoured to sponsor two powerful events which brought people together, opened up conversations and celebrated the wonderful women in our community during Iftar, the breaking of the daily fast during Ramadan. hawaaempower centred on Pathways to Wellbeing and we heard from women and young girls sharing their experiences of using sport to help their wellbeing and the importance of accessing safe and supportive spaces. Our Community Programmes Director Lucy Bardner also gave out an award to an inspirational woman Selina Akhtar Choudhury.
The British Pakistani Welfare Association celebrated women, community, and togetherness. Both events also welcomed distinguished guests from the Bedfordshire Lieutenancy, and BPWA was also joined by the Pakistan High Commission UK and HAWAA by Mohammad Yasin MP for Bedford and Kempston and The High Sheriff Camilla King.

On Sunday 8th March, Hawaa Empower will mark 2026 with an evening centred on Pathways to Wellbeing. Real Stories. Real Impact.

The event will bring together guests from across our communities to hear from women sharing their experiences around wellbeing, access to physical activity and movement, and the importance of safe and supportive spaces.

Taking place during Ramadan, the evening will also include the opportunity to break iftar together (the evening meal that marks the end of the daily fast) 🌙

We look forward to welcoming our guests for an evening of reflection, conversation and community growth ✨
