Can anyone help Oxfam with some books?

We don't often ask for books but we are really low on Children's books especially fiction for 8 to 12 year olds, we really need Classic literature (Austen, Brontes, Dickens etc) , adult fiction and crime novels and any academic books, especially GCSE and A level study guides (in good, clean condition).
Please pop any donations into the shop, we can take up to 4 bags or boxes at a time. If you have more, call us on 01234 213768.

Bring your bike along to Emmaus Village Carlton on Saturday 28th March for a free safety check.

One of our experienced bike mechanics will carry out a 30-point safety check and let you know if anything needs attention to keep your bike safe and road-ready.

🛠 Brakes not quite right?

Bring your bike along and our team may be able to carry out affordable repairs while you wait.

If you’ve old coats no longer needed.

Wrap Up and Reuse!

Got a warm coat you’ve grown out of? Bring it to the library so someone else can more use out of it.

If you’ve got any warm coats you or your family have grown out of, bring them to Bedford Central Library and we’ll add them to our Wrap Up & Reuse rack which will be available soon for anyone who’d like to take a pre-owned coat to make use of.

Please make sure they’re clean and in decent condition, then bring them to the 1st floor of the library and give to staff.

Look out for the colourful spots and our flag outside ! Repair Cafe is back fixing on Saturday, 6th September 2025, 10am-3pm (last walk in 2.30pm). No booking required- just turn up any time and wait in the queue.

Free pallets!

We have 7 pallets at the back of The Barn free to whoever can make use of them.
As we move in to Christmas we will have loads as our huge cheese deliveries come in on pallets.
