We welcome the blessed month of Muharram and the beginning of a new Islamic year.

Muharram is one of the sacred months and a beautiful opportunity to renew our intentions, increase in worship, and draw closer to Allah.

Among the great opportunities in this month are:

🤲🏽 Fasting on the Day of ‘Ashura (10th Muharram), a means for expiation of the previous year’s sins.

May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus and give his family ease during these difficult times, Aameen.

Taa'ziyat for Men and Women from 1:30pm (after Dhuhr) today at Westbourne Islamic Centre, Westbourne Road, Bedford MK40 4PQ.

Janaazah will be held today at 7:30pm at Westbourne Road Islamic Centre. Burial at 2:00pm Norse Road Cemetery on 2/6/26.

We are launching a Parental Helpline — a free, 6-week pilot service for Muslim parents navigating some of the hardest challenges affecting children today:

📚 RSE in schools
📱 Digital harms
🏳️‍🌈 'LGBTQ' identity confusion

This is especially urgent. Changes to RSE guidance are coming into schools from September 2026, and schools are finalising their decisions right now. Parents need support and information today, not later.

🗓 Tuesdays: 12pm – 2pm
🗓 Thursdays: 4pm – 6pm

Launch date: 9th June 2026

This is a pilot. We want to understand the scale of need and, insha'Allah, use what we learn to build a fully resourced helpline with trained volunteers.

It is a Sunnah to say the Takbir of Eid 🌒

Recite it after every Fardh salaah until Asr on Saturday 30 May. Save this as a reminder and share it with others.

Takbeer-Tashreeq is a special form of Dhikr (remembrance of Allah) which we recite on the Day of ‘Arafah, Eid al-Adha and the days of Tashreeq (11th, 12th and 13th of Dhul Hijjah).

It’s a specific form of restricted Takbeer which we recite after every Fardh (obligatory prayer) from Fajr on the Day of ‘Arafah (9th Dhul Hijjah) until Asr on the final day of Eid al-Adha (13th Dhul Hijjah).

There are different authentic ways to say Takbeer-Tashreeq. This form is reported from companions such as Ibn Mas‘ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and others from the early generations:

اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، وَاللهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، وَلِلهِ الْـحَمْدُ

Transliteration: Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, la ilaha illa-Allah, wa Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, wa Lillah il-hamd.

Translation: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, there is no god but Allah. Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, and to Allah belongs all praise.
