As Volunteers' Week comes to a close, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to every volunteer who gives their time, skills, expertise, and lived experience to support The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust.

Whether you've helped review information, shared your experiences to improve care, supported our services, fundraised, or worked behind the scenes, your contribution helps us reach and support more people affected by ectopic pregnancy.

Our CEO, Munira, wanted to share this message with our incredible volunteers:

"I wish to share a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of our fabulous volunteers. Many of you help our small charity not only with your time, skills, and expertise, but also with your own personal experiences.

Over recent months, your support has helped with reviewing content on our website, our vital information leaflets, and offering lived experiences to help shape compassionate care. Your generosity, understanding, and compassion contributes so much to those who seek our information and support when needed most.

You help create a community where people feel supported, heard, and less alone. We are truly grateful for everything you give to The EPT.

On behalf of the team, trustees, and all those who turn to us, thank you."

To every volunteer, past and present, thank you for helping us ensure that nobody faces ectopic pregnancy alone.

For many of our volunteers, their journey with The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust began following their own experience of ectopic pregnancy.

Wanting to help others feel less alone, share understanding, or give back in a way that feels meaningful can become an important part of healing and recovery.

Our volunteers play a vital role in everything we do. From supporting those affected by ectopic pregnancy to helping with administrative tasks behind the scenes, their time, compassion, and dedication help us reach more people every day.

Whether you can spare a few hours a month or just a little time throughout the year, we'd love to hear from you. Every contribution matters.

If you'd like to join our supportive and welcoming volunteer team, you can register your interest via our volunteer interest form: https://ectopic.org.uk/volunteering-for-the-ept

As part of Volunteers' Week, we're celebrating Katarzyna and the difference that lived experience can make.

After experiencing two ectopic pregnancies, Katarzyna struggled to find the support she needed close to home in Poland. Looking further afield, she discovered The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust and attended one of our virtual support meetings.

For Katarzyna, it was a turning point.

Hearing the experiences of others, feeling understood, and realising she was not alone marked the beginning of her healing journey. It also inspired her to give something back.

One of Katarzyna's most meaningful volunteering projects was helping to translate our patient information leaflets into Polish, helping to ensure that women experiencing ectopic pregnancy can access information and support in their own language.

Reflecting on the project, Katarzyna said:

"I remembered how lost and alone I felt, and how much it would have meant to me to be handed clear, compassionate information in my own language."

Thank you, Katarzyna, for helping us reach and support more people affected by ectopic pregnancy, wherever they are in the world. πŸ’œ

As part of Volunteers' Week, we're celebrating Alex and the difference volunteers can make beyond our day-to-day services.

In 2023, Alex took part in user research to help inform the development of the Baby Loss Certificate scheme. By sharing her experience and perspective, she helped contribute to something that now offers recognition to bereaved families across England.

Volunteers bring so much more than their time. They bring lived experience, insight, compassion, and a willingness to help improve things for those who come after them.

Thank you, Alex, for sharing your voice and helping to shape meaningful change.

Our next Professional Pause session will take place on 24 June.

Working in early pregnancy and emergency care often means balancing busy departments, emotional conversations, and the responsibility of delivering difficult news, sometimes all within the same shift.

This session, held for healthcare professionals in pre-24 week pregnancy loss care, will create space to focus on your wellbeing navigating those challenges. A chance to pause, reflect, and connect with others who understand the realities of working in these environments.

Professional Pause sessions are designed to support healthcare professionals working within pre-24-week pregnancy care and related settings, recognising the emotional impact this work can carry.
