Karen’s love of art

Our tenant Karen, from Durham, is a very talented artist who finds incredible joy from creating artwork.

Karen attends two art classes every week. She is hoping to set up an arts and crafts group in the communal lounge at her home with support from the Community Support Grant.

Karen said: "Art helps me to concentrate and stay calm. It gives me something positive to focus on."

Listening to you, our tenants, is very important to us.

The Tenants’ Voice – Improving Services group, which is run by Progress Housing Group, has started to look at the ways our tenants can share their views and be heard.

Tenants told us that they would like us to share more examples of how we made our services better after listening to feedback.

Here is an example:

You said: Create a video or audio version of Your News, our tenant newsletter, and share on our YouTube channel so more people can engage with the newsletter and to make the experience of listening to the news better.

We did: An audio version of the newsletter is now up on RWP’s YouTube channel, and we will carry this on with future newsletter editions. We also add images from the newsletter to the videos.

"The process was quite simple, filling in the application form and then attending the event. Everyone was really friendly and it was lovely hearing all the different stories about the range of activities happening in our communities.
" I was overwhelmed when we won – it enabled us to put on our Christmas dinner which we would otherwise have struggled to do. That money was a lifeline to us, so I would encourage others to apply.”

Nate was one of last year's Soup Dragon's Den winners. He was over the moon when he won the most votes and was awarded £1,000 for his project to provide Christmas lunch to people who needed it in Chorley.

This could be you if you enter this year's event, which is sponsored by Roofing.

We are offering the chance to win up to £1,000 from our Community Investment Fund by applying to take part in our Soup Dragon’s Den.
The application process is also open to anyone who has an idea support to the areas where we have properties. This means supported living tenants and their support workers can apply - in fact - we would love you to!
We will shortlist up to six groups, who will be invited to attend our Soup Dragon’s Den event. And don't worry if you cannot attend the event in person. Speak to our Customer Voice Team about ways to get involved.
All those short listed, but don't win, will still receive up to £200 for their project.

So if you would like funding for your project, apply via https://orlo.uk/S7m7D by Sunday, 25 October 2026.
Good luck!

Aaron lives in one of our supported living homes in Oxfordshire. He shares his home with Thomas, Kim, and Thomas.

Aaron’s support worker Ola has supported Aaron with planning his train journeys to Reading to visit his family. Aaron has built up his confidence with public transport by making local trips with Ola.

He feels confident now with getting the train from Oxford to Reading at the weekend. “I get on the bus and then I will get the train to Oxford. Then I get the train ticket to Reading,” says Aaron.

Keeping you safe is very important to us.

Progress Housing Group (which RWP is part of) now provides a Hate Crime Third Party Reporting Centre.

What is hate crime? A hate crime is when someone might hurt someone, threaten them or damage their home and it is because of who they are. It could be because of:

• Race or skin colour
• Religion
• Disability
• Sexual orientation

Hate crime is wrong and should be reported. The person who has seen a hate crime or had something hurtful done to them, might not be ready or feel safe to report it. You can report a crime to our third party hate crime reporting centre if you do not feel safe or ready to go to the police yourself.

The reporting centre will help us to keep you safe and to make sure you feel like you belong.

We believe in speaking up when something is not right.

Help us keep our communities safe together.

We are committed to ensuring our homes are safe and well-maintained and have fitted smoke detectors in all of them. If smoke is identified, then a smoke alarm will warn you of this by giving out an alarm sound.

If your smoke alarm goes off, then you will need to follow your escape plan with support staff.

We will service all detectors annually and change detectors when required. If the battery fails or the detector loses power, it should give out a high-pitched beeping noise to alert you. If you hear this noise, speak to your support worker or contact RWP: https://orlo.uk/pQRGb

We are supporting World Mental Health Day

Gaynor Elizabeth has been living in one of our supported living homes in Merseyside for over 10 years. She has a brother who lives nearby in Merseyside who visits her every week.

Gaynor Elizabeth shares her experience and mental health journey with RWP tenants and other tenants supported by Potens through public speaking at mental health groups and events. “I have learned how to handle my mental health very well and I have achieved all my goals”, says Gaynor Elizabeth.
