The Leyland Band Exhibition is officially open to the public! ✂️🎉

We are very grateful to have received a community grant from South Ribble Borough Council to tell the historic story of the band in our 80th year. The best part? It's being hosted right in the heart of our town, thanks to the support of the British Commercial Vehicle Museum. 🙌

Last night, we opened our very own Leyland truck full of memorabilia with a special launch concert, alongside a feature film documenting our famous performances from all over the world since 1946. 🎶

Thank you to everyone who came to the launch concert last night, and it was great to meet our new Mayor of South Ribble & Mayoress. 🎺

The exhibition is open for 6 months, so make sure you go and visit it if you're in town! 👋

🚨 One week today we'll be returning to the British Commercial Vehicle Museum in Leyland! 🎶

As part of our 80th anniversary celebrations, we'll be performing in this unique setting with a programme full of popular music - this is one you won't want to miss! 🎺

Best Soprano Cornet award at Diggle & Grotton...it's Andrew Lofthouse! 🎺🏆🏆

Lofty was our Whit Friday captain, navigating a tricky route through an incredibly busy Saddleworth. He also had to stop 25 Leyland players from faffing, dilly-dallying and generally being far too slow for someone of his high military precision standards. 😅🫡

We couldn't not share this photo where it looks like he's had enough of us all so much that he's taking the next bus home...😂😂

In the top 3 at Greenfield, Grotton and Uppermill too!🥉🥉🥉

Looks like we've finished 4th overall for the evening, and lots of fun was had. Congratulations to all prize winners in all sections, and a big thank you to all the volunteers who welcomed hundreds of bands as they descended on Saddleworth - Whit Friday 2026 seems to have grown into the most popular version ever judging by the number of bands and the size of the crowds. 🎺🙌

🎺 Whit Friday 2026 – We're Back in Saddleworth! 🎺

Today marks our return to the famous Whit Friday Brass Band Contests in Saddleworth for the first time since 2022.

We can't wait to experience the atmosphere once again and be part of one of the most iconic events in the brass band world!
