A huge thank you to the members of Silver Foxes Bingo Club for presenting us with a hugely generous donation of £500 towards our Walled Garden restoration crowdfunder 💚🌿

The club, who meet at Fox Lane Sports Club, have raised funds through raffles, draws and community fundraising activities to support a variety of local good causes, and we feel incredibly grateful that they chose to support us.

Their donation, plus our plant sale over the weekend, has helped us cross the amazing £10,000 mark in our campaign- a massive milestone for the project 🙌

We’re now into the final push with just 5 days left on the crowdfunder. Every donation, share and conversation genuinely makes a difference as we work to bring this historic space back to life for the community.

Thank you again to everyone involved at Silver Foxes Bingo Club for believing in what we’re building together 🌱

What a lovely day at the Walled Garden 🌿

It was amazing to see so many people turn up today to support the project whilst also grabbing some real bargains at our plant sale.

The park was buzzing with the fantastic Brass Bands and the giant bubbles 🫧

A huge thank you as well to Barbara, Jane and Kath for giving up their time to help today, we honestly couldn’t have done it without you 💚

If you missed today, don’t worry - we’ll also be open tomorrow from 11am–2pm with plenty more plants available 🌱

Thank you again to everyone who came along, donated, shared kind words or simply stopped for a chat. Every bit of support helps us keep moving forward with the Walled Garden project 🌿

A little creative update from the Walled Garden 🌿

We’ve created these flyers to help spread the word about what we’re building together at Worden Park - a space for community, wellbeing, growing, heritage and connection.

One small ask…

If you run a local business, café, shop, salon, community venue or workplace noticeboard, would you be happy to pop a few flyers out for us? 💚

Every single conversation, scan, share and display genuinely helps us reach more people and bring new supporters into the project.

If you’d be happy to help, drop us a message and we’ll get some flyers over to you 🙌

🌱 Volunteers needed: Help tackle Himalayan Balsam in South Ribble! 🌱

Himalayan Balsam might look pretty, but it’s an invasive plant causing real problems along our rivers and ditches. Growing up to three metres tall, it spreads quickly, crowding out native plants and leaving riverbanks vulnerable to erosion when it dies back in winter.

Each plant can produce up to 2,000 seeds – and just pulling 10 plants could prevent thousands more from growing!

That’s why we are once again teaming up with partners for our annual Balsam Bashing Week – and we need your help! 💪

📅 Week of action: 8 to 13 June
We’re looking for businesses, community groups, and volunteers who can spare a couple of hours to help protect our local environment. It’s simple, hands-on work – just pull, snap, and stack!

👉 Get involved: email [email protected]

🌳 Public event:
📍 Worden Park
📅 Saturday 13 June
⏰ 10am to 12 noon
📌 Meet at the dog wash on the main car park
Please wear old clothes, sturdy footwear (wellies or walking boots recommended), and bring gardening gloves and a drink. Children are welcome but must be supervised at all times.

There’ll be a short walk from the meeting point to the work area.
