The Zimbabwe Educational Trust (ZET) was established in 1987 with the aim to improve vital access to education for children in Zimbabwe, particularly orphaned and other vulnerable children. Education offers the best opportunity for children to improve their standard of living and move out of poverty. ZET is a Leeds based charity which sends computers, books and other equipment to an educational ce

ntre in Zimbabwe and supports the Trinity Project Trust at a grass-roots level in Zimbabwe. The Trinity Project Trust aims to create an empowered community, free from property grabbing, HIV/AIDS, which respects the right of women and children. Established in 2008, their mission has been to provide free education and support on inheritance and child rights, the implementation of preventative HIV/AIDS programmes and the provision of education, training and support programmes for orphans and other vulnerable youths. ZET’s vision is zero tolerance to the violation of the child’s basic right to education and to unequal educational opportunities within Zimbabwe. The work ZET does supports the UNESCO Education For All goal and several of the Millennium Development Goals, in particular:

What can 12 months change?

For a young woman at Rafiki Girls Centre, it can mean discovering a skill she never knew she had. Finding her confidence. Learning how to manage money. Gaining work experience. And beginning to imagine a future she once thought was out of reach.

Through life skills, vocational training, counselling and work placements, Rafiki Girls Centre gives young women the tools and support to move towards employment and economic independence.

Because sometimes, opportunity is all someone needs to change their direction. 💛

For many young women in Zimbabwe, poverty, early pregnancy, caregiving responsibilities and gender inequality can bring education to an early end.

And without qualifications, skills or opportunities to earn an income, it can be incredibly difficult to find a way forward.

But being excluded from education shouldn’t mean being excluded from opportunity. 💛

What an incredible day at Zimfest 2026!

It was a pleasure to return to for the second year and spend the day celebrating Zimbabwean culture with such a vibrant and welcoming community. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stall to learn more about our work, share your own stories, ask questions and encourage us.

A special thank you to everyone who supported Zimbabwe Educational Trust by making a donation, signing up to give regularly, joining our newsletter or simply helping to spread the word about our work. Every conversation and every act of support helps us continue working alongside our trusted partners in Zimbabwe to remove barriers to education, improve food security and create opportunities for vulnerable children and young people.

Some lessons stay with you long after you leave school. Through our partnership with Foundations for Farming, children are learning practical skills they can take home, share with their families and use for years to come.

During our visit to Zimbabwe, it was inspiring to see pupils getting involved in every stage of the gardens and taking real pride in what they were growing together. 🌾💚

Watching children work together with such enthusiasm was a powerful reminder that lasting change often begins with simple ideas, nurtured by committed local people. 🌿

Climate change continues to hit vulnerable communities the hardest. Through our partner, Foundations for Farming, children, teachers and families are learning practical conservation farming techniques that improve harvests, strengthen food security and protect the land for future generations.

During our recent visit, the school gardens were full of life. Children proudly showed us what they had grown, while teachers shared how these gardens are helping provide nutritious meals and creating healthier, more resilient school communities. 🌾💚

Many girls at Rafiki come from communities where education for girls isn't always encouraged.

Today, dreams once thought impossible are becoming reality.

"I am about to become the first female in my family to graduate as a teacher."

A job is more than an income – it's dignity, confidence and hope.

Since February, 40% of young women completing work placements through Rafiki Girls Centre have secured full-time employment.

For many, this is their first opportunity to earn a stable income, support their families and build an independent future.

Sometimes the greatest transformation isn't what someone earns - it's how they see themselves and what they start believing is possible.

Many young women at Rafiki Girls Centre arrive believing they have little to offer.

Today, they walk with confidence, purpose and hope.

"I thought I was going crazy before joining Rafiki. No one took time to listen to me. Today, I leave home every morning knowing I'm going to work."

Every young person deserves someone who believes in them.
