SPARK Social Justice SPARK is a faith informed social justice project bringing together people aged 18-30, in and around Yorkshire.

We are part of the Justice and Peace Commission in the Catholic Diocese; our priorities include climate change, UK poverty and racial justice.

This year, SPARK gained funds through the Assumption Legacy Fund, focussed on Catholic Social Teaching🙌✝️. This has allowed us to plan our first parish session at St. Augustine of Canterbury, a lovely, welcoming parish in Harehills, home to a vibrant group of young people, who demonstrate strong leadership and enthusiasm⛪️. In 2025, the parish made a conscious commitment to ensure that the voices of young people are heard as active contributors in their church and to nurture their personal growth. Thanks to Fr Ghebreyesus and Cassandra James who leads the youth work in the parish, along with the team who helped on the day we all had a memorable afternoon full of fun and pizza! More sessions are planned and we are looking forward to working with the parish of St. Augustine🤩🤩🤩🫶

Our team recently attended an event with the Lord Mayor, highlighting the contribution made by volunteers and charities to our city🏙️🤩! Spark’s Chair, Tom, who represents the views of young adults in all our plans and delivery, was presented with a certificate to honour the work of our team!🤝 We are proud to be one of the organisations making a difference in Leeds❤️
