Great to meet with Cat Smith MP and Mags Pattison today, to discuss the plight of our homeless clients in Lancaster and the services we offer.

It's heartening to know we have their support in the fight against homelessness.

🏠 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 & 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲! I visited LDHAS this afternoon and it's evident just how essential their day centre is for people facing homelessness across our area.

🤝 It was very useful to meet with Simon and David to talk about the realities on the ground, including a 50% increase in women presenting as homeless, and the daily need for donated basics like rucksacks, sleeping bags, and clothing.

💷 LDHAS runs an open-five-days-a-week service providing breakfast, clothes, showers, and access to a nurse three days a week, but it costs around £200,000 a year to run and relies heavily on donations.

🚨 I was pleased that over the summer, the Prime Minister announced a £442 million package to get rough sleepers off the streets by Christmas, including funding for emergency accommodation, permanent homes, and wraparound support. Organisations like LDHAS will be vital in helping achieve these goals.

🙏I’d like to thank Simon, David, and all the staff and volunteers at LDHAS for their tireless work helping local people.
