Lancashire Youth Challenge

Lancashire Youth Challenge We nurture, support and inspire young people to achieve their full potential

Lancashire Youth Challenge nurtures, supports, and challenges young people living in North Lancashire and Preston to overcome barriers and obstacles to achieve personal success. At the heart of our ethos is the belief that everybody can achieve personal success and gain new skills when given an equitable opportunity, meaningful encouragement, and access to high-quality provision. The young people

we work with are dealing with significant personal challenges, whether these relate to managing their mental health, coping with trauma, family breakdown, youth offending, housing poverty, and/or family pressures. Our programme of regular physical fitness training, mindfulness & wellbeing activities, creative workshops, peer mentor training, and outdoor activities & expeditions ensures that every one of our participants can gain new skills, build confidence, and achieve their own goals. These are key to building resilience and enable young people to feel optimistic and capable of entering training, further education, and employment to craft the lives they wish to lead.

Huge shoutout to Helen who is nearly halfway through her incredible 10 Challenges journey for LYC! 💛

Helen is taking on the challenge of swimming 1 mile in 10 different lakes and lochs to help fundraise and support the work we do with young people and she is absolutely smashing it! 🌊👏

From early mornings to seriously freezing water, her determination and commitment have been amazing to watch. We’re so proud of you Helen!

If Helen’s challenge inspires you, why not support her fundraiser or take on your own challenge for LYC? 💪✨

David Attenborough with the best advice we’ve heard all year 🌿
This weekend, try and spend some time for yourself.

This morning, our Flourishing Fridays: Time to Breathe group spent time in the amazing woodland at the Gathering Fields slowing down, connecting with nature, and taking a moment to simply breathe.💚

Sometimes the best thing we can do is step outside and reconnect with the world around us. 🌍

Mental Health Awareness Week 💚
11th–17th May
A reminder that looking after your mental health doesn’t always have to be something huge. Sometimes it’s the small things that make the biggest difference ✨

At Lancashire Youth Challenge we see every day how connection, nature, creativity and community can support wellbeing. This week, take a little time for yourself and check in with the people around you too 💚

This week we're thinking about the Sir David Attenborough's 100 years of inspiring generations to explore, appreciate and protect the natural world. 🌍💚

Sir David Attenborough has inspired so many of us to look closer at nature and understand why it matters. At LYC, we see every day how powerful time outdoors can be for young people, creating connection, curiosity and care for the world around them.

Happy 100th Birthday Sir David Attenborough. 🌿
