Loneliness Awareness Week is the world's largest campaign to inspire conversations about loneliness and promote connection activities happening across the world.

At Bay Volunteers, we do exactly that:
We offer hands-on support that combats isolation:
- Shopping Assistance
- Post/Parcel deliveries
- Prescription collection
- Friendly phone calls, in-person visits & walks

Every mission may help someone feel seen, supported, and less alone.

There are many people across the world, including within our community, who are lonely, and since it’s Loneliness Awareness Week, we wanted to share with you all an example of a task you could do.
Could you go to work with someone? Or give someone a call? It could really make someone's day and fight against loneliness.
We would love you to get involved!
- If you're already a volunteer, you can check the task board for opportunities.
- If you'd like to volunteer, sign up below! πŸ‘‡

Today is 'Power of Youth Day', a day to recognise young people as partners in change.

At Bay Volunteers, we are lucky to have young people who help us bring about change in our community by supporting the needs of people across the Lancaster District, especially elderly, vulnerable, isolated and housebound people.

In the last year, we have had 70 young people (sixth formers), who are 29% of our total volunteers!

Thank you for all you do; you are the future. πŸ’™

This week is National Volunteers' Week 2026, a UK-wide campaign dedicated to celebrating and appreciating the millions of people who give their time, skills, and energy to support others and strengthen communities.

We would like to celebrate our volunteers at Bay Volunteers, who are supporting 100 people regularly each month, carrying out 115 regular missions, mostly weekly.

Thank you so much for all you do to support our community.

Here's what one of our service users has said about the support he receives from his faithful and committed volunteers: "It has given me real confidence, and has been so wonderful to have people there for me who really understand me. It’s meant a great deal."

This week is Dementia Action Week 2026. Dementia Action Week is led by the Alzheimer's Society, bringing people and organisations together to act on dementia.

Here at Bay Volunteers, we see the impact of dementia through the people we support and their families. We're so grateful to all our volunteers, who care for vulnerable people across our community.

- Dementia is the UK's biggest killer, it affects us all, and it devastates lives.
- Every 3 minutes, someone in the UK develops dementia
- 1 in 3 people born in the UK today will go on to develop dementia in their lifetime.
