For the Friends of The Storey Gardens, caring for the gardens is about preserving a place where nature, history, culture and community come together.🧑🦽
Through planting, maintenance, fundraising and supporting events, the group helps ensure this much-loved public garden remains a welcoming space for everyone to enjoy.👩🦽👨🦯🕺
Nestled in a peaceful corner of the city centre, The Storey Gardens offer a sense of calm and escape, with beautiful historic surroundings and over 300 plant species, including heritage fruit trees, wildflower meadows and colourful borders.
At its heart is Mark Dion's The Tasting Garden, a distinctive environmental artwork that gives the garden its own unique character.💥
Throughout the year, the gardens play host to community events and celebrations, including Light Up Lancaster, Heritage Open Days and the Lancaster Music Festival, bringing people together and helping the space remain vibrant and welcoming.🤸♂️🧘🧎
The Friends have also supported the recreation of The Tasting Garden through extensive fundraising and have helped enhance the site with additional park benches, creating places where people can read, meet friends, enjoy lunch or simply take a moment to relax.🎨🧸
For volunteers, being involved is a chance to make a positive difference, connect with others and enjoy the wellbeing benefits of spending time outdoors surrounded by nature.🌅
🥰The group says: "We love this park because it is a special place that combines nature, history, culture and community in the heart of Lancaster." 😘
🌿 The Storey Gardens are a hidden gem that inspire pride in our city and provide a peaceful retreat for residents and visitors of all ages.
