Volunteers’ Week is an annual UK-wide campaign to celebrate and recognise the contributions of volunteers.
Volunteers' Week 2026 runs from June 1-7, and Kirkcaldy Foodbank would once again like to take the opportunity to pay tribute to the efforts of all our volunteers for everything they do to help the less fortunate in the community.
Keeping the foodbank running smoothly requires people to help in a variety of different roles and we currently have opportunities in several areas.

Specifically, we are looking for help with the following:

Fundraising team – helping with fundraising ideas and writing funding applications

Finance team – assisting with the financial side of our operation

Creating social media posts

Writing and designing newsletters for volunteers and supporters

Using spreadsheets to compile data on our work and create our data reports

Board members to assist with the oversight of the running of the foodbank

Anyone who would like to find out more about any of above roles should contact us at [email protected] and someone will get back in touch to discuss, without any obligation.

More information about Volunteers' Week can be found at volunteersweek.org

Kirkcaldy Foodbank is appealing to local people and businesses to mark World Hunger Day by donating food or money.
The appeal comes as the charity deals with continuing food cost pressures.
World Hunger Day 2026 is on Thursday, May 28, focusing on the theme ‘The End of Hunger is in our Hands’.
Led by The Hunger Project - a global movement aimed at creating a world without hunger - the theme of World Hunger Day this year aims to highlight sustainable solutions to hunger and raise awareness for more than 820 million people in chronic hunger around the world.
Locally, Kirkcaldy Foodbank reported an average of 1000 visits every month during 2025.
On average, more than 650 adults and 240 children (30%) received food every month.
Over the year, 2133 adults and 971 children received food from the foodbank at least once.
Foodbank chair Norah Smith said: “While hunger is very much a global issue, we are still helping hundreds of people a week in the Kirkcaldy area who would otherwise be going without basic food.
“We need your support on World Hunger Day and every day to ensure that nobody goes hungry in Kirkcaldy.”
People can help by encouraging their friends and family to buy a voucher via the foodbank’s website.
A voucher equivalent to the cost of a food parcel for a single person costs £19.50, while a food parcel for a couple costs £21 and a family parcel costs £32.
Vouchers are also available in several different cash amounts - £5, £10, £20, £50 and £100. More details can be found at kirkcaldyfoodbankcharity.org.uk
