We’re seeing an increase in motorised vehicles, like off-road bikes, using our paths on the coast, inland and at Local Nature Reserves. We’d like you to continue enjoying walking and cycling our trails so please be aware and stay safe. Such incidents can be easily reported to Police Scotland and Crimestoppers.
In Scotland, The Road Traffic Act 1988 makes it illegal to operate mechanically propelled vehicles (such as motocross bikes), on public land without the landowner's permission. This includes common land, beaches, moorland and land not forming part of a road. Certain Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycles (EAPCs) are included in this legislation. An EAPC is not treated as a motorised vehicle when it is pedal-assisted and is limited to 15.5mph when motor assisted.
Police Scotland are working to tackle such antisocial behaviour and resulting damage in Fife. If you encounter such an incident please note as much relevant information as you can and report it in one of the following ways:
- Phone Police Scotland on 101
- Complete the Police Scotland online form https://www.scotland.police.uk/secureforms/contact/
- Report the incident to Crimestoppers https://crimestoppers-uk.org/fearless/professionals/fearless-scotland/off-road-bikes where there is lots of useful information.
We hope you continue to enjoy our paths and trails as the days draw out. Remember there is lots of useful information to help you plan your outdoors adventure on our website. https://fifecoastandcountrysidetrust.co.uk/
