We’re pleased to see AC featured in Centre for Mental Health new national report, **Stability Beyond Care**.

The report highlights our partnership with Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust as one of three examples in England showing how welfare advice can support mental health recovery.

For many people, mental health recovery is closely linked with practical stability. Housing worries, debt, benefit issues and financial hardship can all make it harder to stay well.

That is why welfare advice belongs alongside mental health care.

At AC, we are proud to play a part in that work locally.

Practical advice. Greater stability. Better outcomes.

Today marks a major change for private renters in England.
From 1 May, the Renters’ Rights Act means Section 21 has ended, most assured shorthold tenancies have become assured periodic tenancies, and tenants have stronger rights around their homes, including clearer protections when landlords want to sell or move back in, and better rights around requesting pets.
At Accommodation Concern, we welcome this.
For too long, many renters have lived with insecurity, afraid to challenge disrepair, unfair treatment or unaffordable rent increases because they knew a Section 21 notice could follow.
Today is a positive step towards a fairer private rented sector.
But we also know this is only the start. The law has changed, but people will still need advice, advocacy and support to understand what the changes mean in practice. Eviction cases may become more complex. Tenants may need help challenging decisions. Landlords, councils and advice agencies will all be working through new processes.
These are uncharted waters, and our team will be here to help people navigate them.
If you are worried about your tenancy, facing eviction, struggling with rent arrears, or unsure what your rights are, please seek advice early.
Accommodation Concern provides free, independent advice on housing, debt and welfare benefits across Northamptonshire.
A big day for renters’ rights. A big day for advice. And a reminder that rights only really matter when people are supported to use them.
