# Squirrel Section – 1st Woodford Scout Group

We are looking at the possibility of opening a new **Squirrel section** at 1st Woodford Scout Group.

Squirrels are the newest section of the Scouting family and are for children aged **4 to 6 years old**. At the moment, we don't have a Squirrel Drey at 1st Woodford, but we would like to find out whether there is enough interest locally to consider opening one.

Before we could go ahead, we would need to establish two things:

👧 **Is there enough demand?**
We need to know how many children would be interested in joining.

🙋 **Do we have enough volunteers?**
We would need a **minimum of three adult volunteers** to run the section. You don't necessarily need previous Scouting experience – full training and support would be provided.

At this stage, **nothing has been decided**. We are simply putting out some feelers to see whether there is enough interest from both families and potential volunteers.

Depending on the response, we would potentially look at opening the Squirrel Drey in **September 2027 or January 2028**.

If you have a child aged 4–6 who you think would be interested, or if you might be interested in volunteering to help run the section, please get in touch.

It would be great to hear from you and see whether there is enough interest to make a Squirrel Drey at 1st Woodford a reality! 🐿️

As we come to the end of another fantastic term, **1st Woodford Scout Group** is now taking a break for the summer holidays. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in **September** for another exciting programme of fun, adventure and new experiences.

We currently have three sections:

* **Beavers** (ages 6–8) – meet on **Thursday evenings**
* **Cubs** (ages 8–10½) – meet on **Monday evenings**
* **Scouts** (ages 10½–14) – meet on **Friday evenings**

If your child would be interested in joining any of our sections, we'd love to hear from you. Please contact us at:

We're also looking for adult volunteers to join our team. Whether you can help every week or just occasionally, volunteering is a rewarding way to help young people develop skills for life while being part of a friendly and supportive team. No previous Scouting experience is necessary – full training and support will be provided.

If you'd like to find out more about volunteering or joining the group, please get in touch. We'd love to welcome you to 1st Woodford Scout Group.

Dear parents, carers, and members of our local community,

We would like to warmly invite you to the 1st Woodford Scouts Annual General Meeting on Thursday 4th June 2026 at 19:30. This is a great opportunity to hear about what our young people have achieved over the past year, learn about our plans for the future, and meet the team who help make it all happen.

As part of our AGM, we are also looking to expand our team of volunteers and trustees, including recruiting for the important role of Treasurer. Whether you have a little time or a lot, there are many ways to get involved and support Scouting in Woodford. No previous experience is required — just enthusiasm and a willingness to help young people thrive.
