Today we hosted our annual Trust Charity Cricket Match, bringing together colleagues from Calderdale and Huddersfield hospitals for a fantastic day of fun, fundraising, a few runs, and a few wickets along the way!

A huge thank you to our hosts, The Cricket Asylum, for providing such a great venue, and to CHS Catering at HRI for generously supplying 40 sports drinks for our players.

Most importantly, thank you to all the amazing colleagues, family members, and friends who came along to play, support, cheer, and help make the day such a success.

We’re incredibly grateful for the fantastic support shown throughout the event. It was a brilliant day, raising money for a great cause while bringing people together and enjoying some friendly competition.

📚 Our Book Stall Needs Your Help! 📚
Our Charity Book Stall at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary has been a wonderful success, raising vital funds and bringing comfort and enjoyment to patients, visitors and staff alike.
However, our stock is now running low, and we need your support to keep it going!
If you’re having a clear-out this weekend and have any good-quality books you no longer need, we would really appreciate your donations. Every book helps us continue something that makes a real difference to people during what can often be a difficult time.

🧡 A Huge Thank You to Our Incredible Maternity Team 🧡

Last week, a determined team of CHFT midwives, support workers and colleagues took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in support of our Maternity Bereavement Appeal.

Battling torrential rain, strong winds and challenging conditions, they conquered all 24 miles of the route and, thanks to your incredible support, have now raised more than £11,000 for families experiencing baby loss.

Every step they took was driven by a shared commitment to creating a dedicated bereavement suite where families can spend precious time together, make lasting memories, and receive compassionate care during the most difficult moments imaginable.

We are so proud of this amazing team and grateful to everyone who has donated so far. Together, you are helping us create a lasting legacy for local families.

Due to a recent change in circumstances, we’ve had to move the venue for our inaugural charity ball this September.

The exciting news is that we’ll now be celebrating at The Moorlands and we’re absolutely delighted with the change. It’s a beautiful setting and the perfect place for what promises to be a special evening.

Everything else remains the same, and we can’t wait to come together to support our Maternity Bereavement Appeal, raising vital funds and awareness for such an important cause.

As part of their 12-month fundraising programme marking the 25th Anniversary of their Baby Loss Remembrance Tree, our amazing Early Pregnancy Loss Team are partnering with West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service for a special joint event 🧡

📍 Huddersfield Fire Station (HD1 2JT)
⏰ 9:30am – 1:30pm

Come along for a charity car wash, with free tyre safety checks, and plenty of cake – all delivered by our amazing nurses and local firefighters!

All funds raised will support the Early Pregnancy Loss Assessment Unit and The Fire Fighters Charity, helping to improve welfare facilities within the unit and provide additional support to families during incredibly difficult times.

💛 Can You Help Restock Our Trolley of Sunshine 💛

When a child is in hospital, life can suddenly become filled with worry, uncertainty, and long days away from home, friends, school, and everything familiar. For parents and carers, every moment is focused on their child's wellbeing, often leaving little time to pause, rest, or simply breathe.

That's where our Trolley of Sunshine brings a little magic.

Each week, our incredible volunteers visit every bedside on the Children's and Young People's Ward at Calderdale Royal Hospital, ensuring no child is left out. For children who are unable to leave their bed, the trolley brings fun, creativity, distraction, and joy directly to them.

Filled with crafts, colouring, painting, bubbles, books, puzzles, games, Play-Doh, sticker books, and so much more, these play sessions give children the chance to do something so important — just be children. For a little while, hospital appointments, treatments, and worries can be replaced with smiles, laughter, imagination, and play.

These precious moments also offer parents and carers a chance to catch their breath, enjoy seeing their child smile, and find a brief moment of respite during what can be an incredibly difficult time.

Sadly, our Trolley of Sunshine is running low and needs your help.
