Teens Unite Fighting Cancer Improving the lives of teenagers & young adults living with, & beyond cancer. This inevitably has a massive impact on their friendships and self confidence.

Teens Unite Fighting Cancer was co-founded by Karen Millen OBE and supports teenagers (aged 13-24) with cancer.. The charity aims to help young people build on their self esteem and self confidence and reduce feelings of isolation by taking them on fun days out. Activities range from concerts and football matches to motivational art and beauty workshops. The charity is based in Hertfordshire but supports teens from all across the South East. What makes Teens Unite unique as a charity helping this age range is that we support teenagers through treatment, remission and beyond, for as long as they need. The teenage years can be challenging enough without being devastated by a life-limiting diagnosis. We find that our teens need support post treatment more than ever as they have missed large amounts of school, work or university due to treatment. Our main aim is to get our teens together as often as possible in a fun-filled environment; giving them the chance to share their experiences and gain strength from realising that they are not alone in their battle. We recently asked our teens to fill in a questionnaire about the charity. One teen said that "Teens Unite is my lifeline".

This week marks Brain Tumour Awareness Week.

Meet Ruben, who was diagnosed with an astrocytoma brain tumour when he was just 3 years old.

In his story, Ruben shares his experience of growing up with cancer and the impact it has had on his life, both then and now.

“I was very young and don’t remember much - it was a much quieter life though. I have been in and out of treatment for a long time as I was 3 when I was diagnosed and 15 now.

The hardest part is not being able to see my family and friends as much as I would like and missing out on activities on trips that I would have liked to have gone on. I have been coping by reading books and spending time with my pets and going on walks. It has shaped my life though and hasn’t all been bad and I have had some good times, like going on trips, and met some great friends along the way.

Teens Unite have connected me with people who understand, and I have made some good friends during activities and trips. It is helpful to talk to people who have had the same experiences and been in the same boat as me. It really helps that there are people that understand me and my life.

The activities are fun and I have been to places I haven’t expected. It really helped me when I have been in treatment and feeling a bit down.

For people who are new to this and treatment my advice is to try to continue with a normal a life as possible and try to make the most of it and go on trips and do activities to try and help forget what you are going through.”

This Brain Tumour Awareness Week, help us continue supporting young people like Ruben.

Your donation helps provide free activities, trips and opportunities for young people living with, and beyond cancer to connect with others who understand their experiences.💜💚

This International Brain Tumour Awareness Week, we’re sharing Kai’s story and raising awareness for young people navigating life with and beyond a brain tumour.

A cancer diagnosis can change so much, but it shouldn’t stop a young person from discovering who they are, trying new things and achieving their aspirations.

Kai’s story is what we want for all young people diagnosed with cancer: the opportunity to build confidence, make lasting connections and thrive beyond their diagnosis, alongside other young people who truly ‘get it’.

At Teens Unite, we support young people aged 13–24 living with, and beyond cancer, whatever their diagnosis or how long ago they were diagnosed.

Festive Parent Space Meet Up🎄

Come and spend some time with other Teens Unite parents this winter at the Home of Teens Unite in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire. This is a chance to take a little time for yourself, meet other parents who understand what this journey is like, and enjoy a relaxed, festive afternoon together.🌟

We’ll be getting into the festive spirit with some seasonal activities, including wreath making, enjoying a warm drink, having a chat and, of course, a few treats along the way.

You’ll also have the chance to see the site of the 'Home of Teens Unite' and hear more about what we’re creating here for young people and their families, and the opportunities it will provide in the future.💜💚

Most importantly, this is a chance to step away from everything for a few hours, meet other parents who get it, share experiences, and simply spend some time looking after yourself.

🌟Meet the Team!🌟

Meet the incredible team at Teens Unite, dedicated to supporting young people living with, and beyond cancer 💚💜

Meet Anna, Partnership Manager at Teens Unite.

⭐️What’s one thing you can’t live without?

“Family & friends”

⭐️How long have you worked at Teens Unite?

“10 months”

⭐️What does your role involve?

“My role is all about relationships. I get to share who Teens Unite is, what we do and why it matters, and help businesses see the difference they can be part of making. I build those relationships from the first conversation, getting to know what matters to each partner and finding meaningful ways for them to support our young people – whether that’s through funding, opportunities, expertise or raising awareness.”

⭐️One word to describe Teens Unite

“Inspiring”

⭐️Why is Teens Unite important to you?

“Teens Unite is incredibly important to me because my daughter was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer as a child, so I know first-hand how vital the right support is, both during treatment and beyond.
What makes Teens Unite so special is that our support doesn’t stop when treatment ends. A cancer diagnosis can change a young person’s life forever, and we’re here whenever they need us – providing a safe space to be themselves, find joy and, most importantly, connect with others who truly understand.
I’m incredibly proud to work for such an amazing charity and to be part of a team that makes such a meaningful difference.”

The Reality Behind the Pink💗

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, pink ribbons, frills, and products are filling shop shelves and social media feeds. But behind the pink are real people, real experiences and lives changed by cancer.

We’re sharing Holly’s story, a young person supported by Teens Unite, as she opens up about her experience of breast cancer and the realities that come with it.

For young people, cancer affects so much more than physical health. It impacst confidence, relationships, body image and the experience of growing up. Navigating friendships, figuring out who you are and making plans for the future can be challenging enough without cancer changing the way you see yourself and the world around you.

At Teens Unite, we see the person behind the diagnosis. We understand that the impact of cancer doesn’t stop when treatment ends. Through opportunities to connect with others who understand, build confidence, and explore what’s next, we support young people living with and beyond cancer, at their own pace.💚💜

Because every young person deserves to be seen, heard and supported through everything cancer brings, and everything that comes after.

Help us continue creating these opportunities for young people. Every donation helps us bring young people together, build confidence and support them as they look towards the future.🫶
