George’s Journey with SMA type 1 My name is George and I have SMA Type 1. My Mummy and Daddy found some very clever scientists, who created a drug that helps me. I AM NOW 4 YEARS OLD!

I am saving for a machine that turns me into a TRANSFORMER! I would like to share my journey with you all. My name is George and I have SMA type 1. My Mummy and Daddy was told that I have Spinal Muscular Atrophy when I was 3 months old, Mummy was told by the Doctors that I would only have a life expectancy of 6 months – 2 years. My journey in fighting SMA started when Mummy and Daddy found some ve

ry clever scientists, who have created a drug that helps me manage the effects of this rare genetic condition. I was a lucky boy to receive this life saving medicine and throughout my journey I have met so many lovely doctors and professionals who have helped me. I need a lot of equipment to help with my condition, I cannot walk on my own and I cannot even sit up without mobility aids as I also have scoliosis, my dream is to walk but to do this I need a machine called an Innowalk, I am strapped in, and the machine does the walking for me…. It is like being a TRANSFORMER!! Lots of my friends and family are helping Mummy and Daddy buy me this magic machine and I would like to share with you my journey and help others to raise awareness for SMA Type 1.

George had his 3rd spinal lengthening surgery yesterday, this boy is absolutely SMAshing his spinal journey 💙 from leaving him is theatre to seeing him awake in recovery was 1hr 40mins fastest lengthening yet!! The video is him entertaining himself and the nurses on Sky ward, he is such a character 🤣🤣

August is SMA awareness month! Day 1.
What better picture to use then our gorgeous George administering his daily meditation, when we first got told the diagnosis of SMA type1 we looked it up and his future was pretty much non existent, absolutely devastating, no words could ever describe how we felt at that moment in time, we then found hope and will be forever grateful to Kacper Rucinski for reaching out to us 💙
George will be 7 in October, he has lead the way for others with scoliosis becoming the 1st ever in the UK with his condition, having halo traction and spinal rods!
To say we are are proud of him will never come close we are in awe of him, amazed by him, taught by him, the list goes on, but most of all we are loved by him 💙💙 that little dude is our world and more, so funny and cheeky always the comedian 🤣 keep being you our beautiful boy and keep defying the odds 💙
