Today, 485 (Harborne & Quinton) Squadron marked the Air Training Corps’ 85th Anniversary at St Chad’s Church, alongside 493 (Kingsheath & Moseley) Squadron and 479 (Rubery) Squadron.

Across all three squadrons, over 150 cadets came together to take part in a range of activities throughout the day.

A fantastic celebration of the organisation we are proud to be part of — and of the cadets and CFAVs who make it what it is.

485 (Harborne & Quinton) Annual Dinner!

The Squadron held its first Annual Dinner to celebrate and recognise the achievements and milestones we have achieved over the last 12 months.

The dinner consisted of cadets, parents, Squadron staff, civilian committee members and Warwickshire & Birmingham Wings’ Senior Officers including the Wing Commander, Child Protection Officer and Wing Warrant Officer.

The evening proved to be a joyous one, with speeches led by the President of the Mess Committee, Squadron Commander, Sector Commander and Officer Commanding Wing sharing their thoughts about 485 Squadron.

With that, we had a lengthy list of commendations and promotions presented by the Squadron SNCO, Squadron Commander, Sector Commander & the Wing Commander.

The formal evening later finished with Mr Vice, Corporal Ahmed, entertaining the Guests and Members.

Many thanks to the staff at Harborne Golf Course for providing an exceptional service.

Hopefully the first of many more dinners in the future!

REGIONAL ACTIVITY DAY

485 (Harborne and Quinton) Squadron proudly represented Warwickshire and Birmingham Wing at the Wales and West Regional Activity Day.

Competing in both Drill and Space against Staffordshire Wing, West Mercian Wing and the Welsh Wings, our cadets showed outstanding effort and teamwork throughout the day.

Thanks to their dedication, perseverance and commitment, the Squadron won 1st place in BOTH the Drill and Space competitions. As a result, we are now crowned both the Wing and Regional Drill and Space Team!

A huge well done to every cadet who took part. You have done the Squadron and the Wing extremely proud.

Lest We Forget. 🌺

Yesterday, 485 (Harborne & Quinton) Squadron proudly attended our local church to pay our respects to those who gave their today for our tomorrow.

The Squadron paraded its Banner with pride, leading the congregation in remembrance. Several Cadets were also selected to read passages and poems to local residents and organisations who attended the service.

A fantastic turnout and a proud representation of the Squadron on such a significant day.

RAF Cosford Multi-Activity Camp

Last weekend, Cadets from Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing and Merseyside Wing took part in the RAF Cosford Multi-Activity Camp — an incredible opportunity for development, teamwork and achievement.

Cadets participated in a range of exciting courses and activities including:

🪐 Blue & Bronze Space Courses

🏹 Archery Practice

All activities were a huge success, with every Cadet leaving camp having earned at least one badge!

Wing Competition Day Success! 🏆

Over the past few months, 485 Squadron’s Cadets have been working hard to compete against other Squadrons in Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing across a wide range of subjects and activities.

From Banner Drill, STEM, Aircraft Recognition, First Aid, Radio, Space, Foot Drill, and much more — our Cadets showed fantastic effort in every competition.

Their dedication has paid off with 485 Squadron proudly achieving 1st place in both the Space Competition and Foot Drill! 👏🥇

This means 485 will now represent Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing against other Wings in the Wales & West Region at the upcoming Regional Competition Day.

A huge well done to both our Cadets and Staff for their commitment and effort — now it’s time to start preparing for the next stage! 💪
